Why only now I'm yearning for a cigarette?
I could smoke 1 cigarette a week right? Or a few on 1 day per week? It's almost nothing.
But even 1 cigarette per week would mean I'm a smoker and the toxic stuff would never leave my body, right?
Because I would refill it once a week and it takes ages for the human body to get rid of it. And those toxic stuff can cause blemished skin and diseases.
I'd bite my ass if one day the doctor tells me: "Sir I'm sorry, but you have lung cancer because you didn't have the discipline to stop smoking 20 years ago." And I'd be a bit disappointed in myself if I threw those 38 days away.
But I miss it. It's like a part of my soul and my freedom is gone.

Edited by weirdboy99: 6/24/2019 10:18:57 AMYou could use a vaporiser and tone down the nicotine over time, but since it is 38 days now it is probably more the habbit of smoking than actual nicotin adiction. Good luck though I know what it is like, I quit smoking a few times but upon this day never truely managed it so I use a vaper now.

I don’t really know how to combat addiction, and I know that saying “just don’t” doesn’t cut it Just remember it’s a mental game
-
You got this! Try to distract yourself! Go on a run, play some video games, read a book. Anything to keep you focused on something else!
-
Don't do it! You have to resist the urge. "Just one won't hurt" and "this will be the last time, maybe" are ways to justify what you know you shouldn't do.
-
Perhaps my rhyme can keep you inspired After all it’s quite simple you see To keep control of what it is you desired Just replace the smokes in glee With something else, perhaps something green Like jogging or weights And maybe even a good spleen That sounded off but simply open the crate Of imagination and begin to think That perhaps life, Is better when pink
-
Slightly related... to resist drinking beer, I drink Seltzer water instead. It satisfies that carbonation craving without the alcohol and calories. Not sure how it would translate to smoking though.. maybe try chewing gum?
-
Nah, unless you want something else to erase your lungs.
-
that craving will continue for a helluva long time. just refuse to buy one, if you don't have cigs then you can't smoke them. I awhile back myself, if does get better but it takes awhile
-
Go see a doctor. They might be able to prescribe you something to help.
-
Dont give in. Keep your hands occupied with anything. Same with your mouth. Find a coin you like to flip, spin a pencil, anything. Chew gum use hard candy or mints just keep occupied.
-
Are you gonna let a tobacco company punk you out after only 38 days?
-
Lollipop, especially the suckers that last a long time
-
Throw away all your ashtrays and lighters. Put No Smoking signs on every door in your house and in your vehicles. Any 'friends' that offer you cigs or continue to smoke around you are not really 'friends' at all. Good luck.
-
I can help with that. I would get rid of all cigarettes in your house if you hadn't done that already. You can also take nicotine chewable to help wean you off of the nicotine. Or you can use a patch. But also to make sure you don't buy anymore I would go shopping with a trusted friend or family member so they make sure you don't buy them unconsciously.

When I quit I started vaping (way before everyone else jumped on the bandwagon) because I needed the nicotine still and something to keep my hands busy during the day. If you don't want to do that I'd suggest chewing nicorette gum.

Edited by karste385: 6/22/2019 11:12:27 PMDon’t do it, man! Realize that your brain wants you to give in, and wants the easy way out. Easy pleasure. But let me tell you this: easy pleasure keeps you complacent and stagnant. By always seeking the easy way out, you’ll never achieve new and greater things, or grow in your character, you’ll just wither away being content with the nothing you’ve achieved. And at the end of it all, you’ll be a statistic pointing yet again to the fact that cigarettes are absolutely horrible to the body and mind. You won’t leave an impact, or a legacy, you’ll have been the “My Dad/Grandpa/Mom/whatever died cause she smoked. She was never really there for me. I wish she didn’t smoke.”
wow that was extreme
Tldr don’t smoke pls, fight the urge Ps. - one little drag or whatever will get you hooked immediately. It’s like an alcoholic getting “just one sip.” After that one little bit, your mind will be so desperatley focusing on trying to get more that you will give in. So immediatley brush off any thought of relapsing as soon as it pops into your head. Say no and move on. cold showers are IMMENSELY helpful

Your past the stages of withdrawal. Your current symptoms are do to a change of consistency of your normal life. In this case your mentally condition to having a cigarette at certain times of the day or during certain routines. You need to get past this. I have plenty of times thought the same way. However justifying a reason to have 1 will lead to another. You will buy a pack. Then justify a reason to finish it. The cycle will then continue.

Chew gum. It’s what my uncle did to quit tobacco stuff. Any time he got the craving, he chewed some gum.
-
It's really hard to resist, but stay strong. It'll obviously pay off in the end.

Edited by CatMan: 6/23/2019 6:09:46 AMSmoke some trees, smoky the bear isn't around any more....it's safe.

Every cigarette you smoke takes 7 days off your student loan debt 😎
-
When the craving hits you concentrate on your breathing for a couple of minutes, generally it helps. Going for a quick walk around the block can work too.
-
My father had the same idea, but he got lung cancer (he recovered, not to stress you out. It also could’ve been because he already smoked before, though). I wouldn’t suggest it, maybe get some nicotine gum.
