Some here play roles. They pretend to be machines, animals, anime characters, dragons, gods, objects etc. Some of those take it to the next level and write stuff in **, like *shoots laserbeam* or something. Some almost never leave their roles.
Does this annoy you? Do you think it's stupid? Do you enjoy it? Do you participate?

Personally I don't roleplay. I don't pretend to be something I'm not. In my orca pod in the ocean it's just not a thing.
-
No, as I’ve done it myself. I only do it to make jokes however.
-
Its only acceptable when it’s NSFW furry RP. No other exceptions.
-
Role playing should only be in the bedroom.
-
Edited by The Superego: 6/15/2019 4:09:36 PMIt’s more LARPing than actual role play, these people don’t even know how to write 3 dimensional characters. Most are also pretty parasitic and kill any enjoyment to be had

Just no furry shit

They’re kind of annoying. But then again many would say the same about me, so no judgment.

Edited by epicperon: 6/12/2019 10:32:43 PMI don't really care. The internet is full of RPing weirdos. There's no changing that. Best to just deal with it
-
Edited by cRaZyT101: 6/12/2019 11:48:26 PMWhen its overdone I do, but I'm not too particularly bothered that much. Also if the RP is like an "election", then it's just a silly popularity contest. Though Cobra is right- private groups would be beautiful for RP's. If they weren't neutered.

Sometimes my wife will role play as the strict teacher and Ill be the naughty student that....ehh, nevermind.
-
Edited by Warlock Holmes: 6/13/2019 12:39:50 AMEh. Lots of overpowered people waltzing around with there doomweapons and what not. But it is still fun to roleplay here. Pulls me away from some of my eternal boredom. And it’s fun to be a eccentric magic user detective.

Live and let live. Let people have their harmless fun.

Edited by BitrateBilly: 6/13/2019 2:35:01 AMat first i didnt give two shits, now its everywhere and its getting annoying. and lets face it, theyre going to get bored with it eventually, and in the meantime anyone who says anything negative about it will be harassed by people who say theyre the super dragon of candy world
lets not forget downvotes either, they love to drown out opinions like that lmao
Only when I'm role playing as an annoyed videogame forum user
-
Not really. I've role played in online games before but dont know how it works through text. I've also never had the pleasure of playing of D&D.
-
Who’s pretending?
-
*sigh Old B.netter's opinion (which will be down voted and hated on by the vapid) I personally do not participate in them, and honestly never cared about it. But, it's become epidemic in here anymore, and has become annoying to see it so rampant. So many kids want to be the leader, they copycat the formula, make their own RP thread, lather, rinse, repeat..... There seems like there ought to be limits to when it's so over done, and by basically the same individuals all the time that they could just make their own private group and keep it out of here. That's what groups were and are for - For people with a common interest to band together, socialize, and do their thing. Out here, no single group or thing should over run the forum. I'm not expecting it to change any time soon, until these individuals have gotten bored with wearing out the same old stuff over and over again, and leave. Which will eventually happen.
-
I don't mind role play threads but people who pretend to be dragons, speak intentionally in broken english and refer to themselves exclusively in the third person all suck.
Not relevant but people that have text signatures suck ass too.
This honestly is what partly drove me away from here this past year. No it didn't annoy me to the point of leaving. Sure it is annoying to an extent though. I used to come here for actual discussions regarding serious topics, gaming, or just interesting banter. Every time I check the forums out these days, I don't have any hope for that. I just see a huge circle of kids rubbing each other's egos. It's the same people constantly claiming to be the leader of something, or writing things about other users who make them feel cool. And they flood the forums with these posts constantly, they don't even differ greatly from each other. I'd frequent this place every day, multiple times a day, for the past few years. I know that I've not changed as a person. Nor have I grown bored of this place before it became this way. It's a different atmosphere here, not one I feel entertained or attracted by.

I never really understood it
In full armour, Josh 177, known famously as “Mr.Cheese” stepped into the shower, sliding its door closed behind him. The hot water faucet squeaked as he turned it. He swayed his body sensually left and right under the steamy spray as it rinsed the soapy suds from his armour plating. The door suddenly slid open, but Mr.Cheese didn’t turn to look. He knew exactly who was joining him. “Figured it was only a matter of time.” he said in his gruff voice. It was his trusty alien partner, Amanda, who stepped into the shower with him and shut the door again. Mister cheese could then feel something stiff and hot pressing against the plating on the rear of his thigh. “I warned you to never point a weapon at me.” Mr.Cheese said cooly. Amanda slowly lifted his head above Mr.Cheese’s shoulder, grazing the stubble of his split jaw against the side of Mr.Cheese’s helmet. “You afraid I’ll shoot?” Amanda replied. “That depends…” said Mr.Cheese “What kind of shooting are we talking about here?” Amanda smiled as convincingly as his hideous face would allow. “White hot plasma.” He whispered. “The best kind.” Mr.Cheese could suddenly feel Amanda’s plasma pistol charging with a force he’d never felt in all his years of experience under the United Nations Space Command, and he found himself in some incredibly sticky situations. He then felt Amanda press the pulsating weapon against his lower back. Mr.Cheese quickly reached behind, grabbed the hot quivering barrel of Amanda’s pistol and KNEW RIGHT AWAY it wouldn’t be able to hold all that plasma for long. Mr.Cheese turned his head, smirking behind his visor. “Better take your shot.”
Depends on what roleplay it is and how often it’s done
-
Edited by Darth Turtle: 6/13/2019 12:40:14 PMThere’s a few very specific people. Most people keep the role play stuff to role pay threads which is fine you do you my guys. Others pull it into EVERYTHING.
I used to roleplay but everyone was making themselves invincible so it got real stupid real quick
It’s also kinda annoying that most of the decent, interesting or shitposty threads are being buried by a bunch of low effort stories and RP stuff
-
Edited by Panchificus: 6/13/2019 3:01:23 PMYeah it does get a little annoying every now and then. I’ll have to do a bit of digging before finding something worth actually having cool discussions about. What’s more frustrating is that I’ll start typing something I want hear people’s opinion on but get easily discouraged to post it once I realize hardly anyone will see it. So then I just stopped posting altogether.
-
It depends. A few years ago I remember seeing some really weird sexual furry roleplay.
-
I don't do it myself, and to be honest, I don't really 'get it', but I do find it entertaining. It gives Off Topic ' personality'.
