No Cross Save Merging Means I Wasted $100

I was really excited to learn that cross save was coming to destiny 2, however, I immediately became depressed when I realized that there are two types of cross saving. 1. you choose an account you want to use as cross saving (meaning if I have an account on Xbox, which I do, and an account on pc, which I also do, then I have to choose between the 2), or 2. all of your accounts are merged, which is of course the preferable option, but apparently is confirmed as not being the case. That makes me extremely upset seeing as though I recently bought destiny 2 on battle.net, paid $100 for it. However, since I've been playing on Xbox for over 5 years, I would of course want that account to be my cross save. But, that character isn't as far as my pc character, but that character has more exotics, more emotes, more stats. So I would want to use my Xbox characters as my main, but also would like to move my pc characters' inventories over to them, but that doesn't seem to be the case. I don't have the annual pass on Xbox, but I do on pc. However, because I'm not going to use my pc characters going forward, why should I put any time into them at all? I essentially just wasted $100, which, as any sane person would think, is absolutely awesome. People love wasting money, so this just absolutely brings a smile to my face (that was obvious sarcasm). Makes me really upset, especially since I liked everything else in the vidoc. I probably will just be taking a really sad break from destiny for a couple months until cross save comes out, but I certainly won't be happy. I only made this post so that hopefully some Bungie execs see this and add a tool of some kind that at least allows items to be transferred over accounts. Because, in the bottom line, merging accounts hurts literally no one. TL;DR I paid $100 for destiny 2 on pc, however, because I have destiny 2 on Xbox and have been using that character for over 5 years, I'm not going to use my pc characters for cross play because you can't merge accounts, meaning I wasted $100 on destiny 2 for pc and would love to see a tool of some kind to either merge said accounts, or bring items over from one account onto the other.

  • I think you wasted your money when you decided to buy the same game for two systems and then play them concurrently.

That's not going to happen. Too many ways to game the system. Just pick your favorite characters...and then play on your favorite platform. You have to OWN the game in order ttake advantage of cross-save any way. So you didn't waste money. You only "wasted" time leveling up characters you won't end up using. ...and if you had fun playing, it wasn't a waste. ...and if you didn't have fun...well then I think you need to do some soul-searching. Personally, I'm looking forward to my PS4 characters getting to play on PC.

  • Agreed! I moved to PC from Xbox last summer and I have so much stuff there I don't have on PC. Veteran rewards, completed quests for exotics, emotes, silver purchases, completed catalysts. The cross save should simply be finally tied to our Bungie.net accounts and finally reward those who already went multiplatform in some way. Give me my triumphs, my gear, my guardian! Would be great to see happen. Just give us a one time use code or something to pick our primary platform and condense collections to it.

  • That’s not a waist. You had a fun experience on both systems right. So what! Our DLC would be on sale eventually.

  • I’m in the exact same boat as you. 900 hours played on PS4, most of the exotics, tons of emotes, ships, sparrows. Bought it on pc not even 2 weeks ago for £80. I have like 6 exotics, mostly the story mission ones, stupidly I also bought the new cool sparrow and warlock armor for silver. I’m not that bent up about it really, but I’m struggling on deciding if I carry on playing until September trying to build on what I have on the pc version (I’m never going to get all those exotics again with drop rates like these)? Or do I just call it a day, accept that I literally just wasted £100 and go back to PS4 and keep all the cool stuff I’ve collected and transfer that profile over when it happens? It’s a hard choice to make, I don’t even have the annual pass on PS4 so it’s not like I can even do anything right now and feel like I’ve gained.
