The nerfs needed to happen.

Hate on me all you want in the comments but a lot of the nerfs mentioned in the TWAB were actually necessary. Most people aren't looking at the benefits of the nerfs. I'm going to breakdown why I think that most of the nerfs were necessary and give my viewpoint of how its going to benefit endgame content. I'm going to start off with the Whisper of the Worm nerf. The nerf for WotW is actually necessary because white nail is basically pulling ammo out of nowhere, thus making it have infinite ammo capabilities. Whilst being the most powerful heavy weapon in the game, it is a top pick for raids and other boss-including content in the game. The reason bungie is nerfing whisper is because whisper is basically breaking the ammo economy, just like Black Spindle did in Destiny. This nerf is going to make it so endgame content can feel a bit more difficult and opening up a variety of DPS based weapons. Next is Phoenix Protocol, Skull of Dire Ahamkara, Ursa Furiosa, Orpheus Rigs, and Shards of Galanor. These needed nerfs because they were basically making endgame content a cake walk by spamming supers. Bungie is nerfing these because supers are the most powerful thing in the game and should be curated instead of being gained so easily from the exotics. I think that this is going to make the endgame more of a challenge like it should feel while still making players feel overwhelmed in hard activities if they don't use these. Last up is Ace of Spades. Ace is the best exotic hand cannon for PvP with good reason, bonus damage (memento mori), far range, and third eye. With the nerf, I think that its good to remove the memento mori perk after stowing it because it requires you to use it while it has the bonus or miss out on it by switching to a different weapon. Also the slight nerf to damage is also necessary because it can currently 2 tap with inertia override or vengeance, you need at least 4 resilience to avoid this. I know that most people won't agree with my viewpoints but these nerfs really needed to happen if you look at it in a positive way. I'm glad to see that bungie is taking action on how powerful these can feel, but bungie, bloom/recoil on console? When are we going to see a change for that?

  • The only benefit I get from these nerfs are to move on and Play better games. Just wait and see the amount of players that leave when the nerfs are live.

These exotics add a fun factor to the activities. Whisper: WoTW isn’t REQUIRED for endgame content. You can literally melt bosses with several other weapons. In fact in a communicating team environment, whisper is less of an option since there are exotics that play much better than WoTW if pair with a Rally Barricade or a Luna Well. You can completely melt bosses with most exotics with the use of Luna Well/Rift, or Rally Barricade, which are always present in endgame content. WoTW is great for people who play alone rather than in groups. Super regeneration exotics: Once again outside of Reckoning’s bridge (which is fundamentally bad activity) you don’t need these exotics. Hell Shards and Ursa aren’t even good. Hell Tether NEEDS Orpheus to be good because Bungie made it weaker than its D1 version. It’s basically pointless without it. So we essentially killed off Nightstalker. PvE is a cake walk for the most part without these exotics. Ace: Ace of Spades is great...on PC. On console it isn’t even in the top 5. 140s aren’t good on console in general. The nerf wasn’t needed Overall if the purpose of these nerfs is to make things more difficult then the nerfs have failed in their purpose. PvE is already a cake walk (excluding the badly designed Reckoning bridge) without these exotics. All these nerfs do is add to the pool of pointless exotics.

    • You don't nerf a weapon because one exotic or class setup make it able to two tap! You nerf the exotic or class set up. With regards to the other nerfs i'm not too fussed about whisper and I'll test out rigs etc before passing judgement but if they have to nerf shards further to bring them in line with rigs nerf then they will most likely be terrible. Problem is there isn't one exotic to take there place, name one decent pve hunter exotic besides Nighthawk? Warlock still have lunafaCtions and geomags I guess so they will be Ok.
