As you may or may not know speaker is away, so he has come to me in the Pm's and asked me to post my character's inner monologue after our encounter with burly so here it is
They were quiet as they walked; trudged; through the great swamp. It was a vast and miserable pit with no discernible end. Nothing and no one seemed to inhabit this place and yet; something did, they could sense it. It was the sensation of being watched; stalked, as if a thousand eyes were watching them from every shadow, every sunken petrified log, every festering pile of fungus… And the ever slithering of the deeproot, that… and the ever-looming fortress before them growing larger every second.
Acrocanthus had fallen behind the group meandering somewhat about in the bog. His boots kept him above the mire that the others were forced to trudge through. With their unique design, the product of his own fashion; He could skate effortlessly above the mess, and they kept him safe from the ever-reaching corruption below, but even that made him anxious. Something wasn’t right. He had noticed the deeproot would ignore them at times- It would only try to catch them when they idled; Acro puzzled over this: If its sole aim was to ensnare us, why didn’t it do just that. It covered everything and it had nearly over powered them once. The image of Wripperoni being seized and yanked back by his neck gave him shivers. And he instinctively touched the back of his neck as he watched the slithering of the deeproot beneath the mire.
But there was more; The deeproot ignored them when they were moving. It was opportunistic, cunning, yet as they slogged their way towards The Fortress of the Vault, It ignored them. The thought filled him with dread… did it want them to confront Speaker? What had speaker stumbled upon?
The words of the not-bear: Burly Barr Baine, came to his mind. ‘We are in offtopic.’ Was it possible?
