Except for the fact that Bungie have sold sandbox updates in the past.
Think of all the changes on Forsaken. Sure, they came in a patch before Forsaken launched. But they heavily promoted that the changes were only available in Forsaken and, in truth, they were.
Fun fact: random roll weapons are only available to Forsaken players. They sold the feature to us.

Nnnnnnah. Sorry. The entire DLC structure Bungie have had for the past four years? They've used sandbox features, from new subclasses to random rolls, as selling points for everything they've released. You also need Forsaken and all previous DLC to play the current version of the game, so any sandbox features that get added are paywalled by that cost. Entire gameplay features of similar size in other games have been added for free, so trying to argue that paying for DLC is fine is just silly.

Don’t care to argue it to be honest. Sandbox updates are included for players even without the annual pass, sorry if you don’t like the structure.

To be honest, this is not the point of this post. The post is to get Bungie to stop being so damn stubborn and rigid. They need players to come back and this is the only way to do it.
