Not sure if anyone has pointed this already but just thought of another reason why this infusion economy is going to have to change - Gambit Prime armour.
For those of us who have spent time chasing down the Notorious armour sets, unless you infuse them in the new season to keep them up near max power you're going to end up playing against people with a significant power advantage. Cores being in the economy means I'll probably only maintain one or two sets of armour per character in the end just because the cost of them is prohibitive to variety.
So it's either bye bye to Notorious armour perks or it's hello to playing Gambit Prime like it was Iron Banner with Iron Burden.
What's the point of a looter shooter where only a fraction of my loot can stay relevant?
What's the point of a looter shooter where only a fraction of my loot can stay relevant?
That's literally the point of looter games.

That works when there is enough new loot to shake up the sandbox. In D1, every vendor for revamped sandbox changes for each new season in the first and second years. Right now, we haven’t gotten a new sandbox of weapons since Forsaken - just individual new weapons of each archetype. Gear we’ve been getting since Forsaken came out, and even updated year 1 season 1 gear.
-
Haha, ok, I take your point but that feels like semantics. When Cayde said, "there will be a ton of loot," and when people in Y1 kept asking, "where's the loot," they weren't talking about greens, blues or trash rolls they immediately dismantled. They were talking about the god roll weapons and armour, the stuff that's worth keeping. And what I'm getting at is that much of this season has been about Gambit Prime and those specialised Gambit Prime armour sets with their Gambit Prime perks. This next power level increase plus core economy and infusion cost is going to lead to many people never using it again - in just one season. TLDR: loot is the treasure, not the trash. It's the trash that's supposed to be irrelevant, not the treasure.

Its part of Bungie's "making your choices meaningful" strategy, don't you know?😗
What's the point of a looter shooter where only a fraction of my loot can stay relevant?
Not much; which is why, in part, I'm out when Season of the Nerfs begins.

If they gotta stay, let em drop from activities.

Am I missing something here? Power doesn't matter in Gambit prime dude !! U can go with 200 light and still do same dps as a 700 🤨

Edited by Guardian6765: 5/18/2019 5:06:41 PMUm, you might want to check on that. ;) If I understand it correctly (and I very easily may not)... You power level doesn't really matter on the PvE side. When an Invader comes in, you will do less damage to a higher power invader, but (supposedly) he will do no extra damage to you. In other words, don't go 'toe to toe' with an invader. If you decide to invade and you are 30 levels lower than the opposition... R.I.P. Some of that info could be wrong and I'm trying to find confirmation, but suffice it to say that when you hover over Prime in the map, it states that power levels are enabled. Edit... According to https://www.bungie.net/en/Help/Article/47122 They simply say "Gambit is only "power-enabled" when facing off against an invader during a Gambit match" That tells me that the info I gave about an invader not doing more damage would be incorrect. :)

Edited by SCP-049: 5/18/2019 7:45:01 PMThat explains so much stuff I was shooting invaders that time with a 150 scout doing 50 per shot 🤔 Well qm 700 since for ever so I didn't really realize that
-
I was shooting invaders that time with a 150 scout doing 50 per shot
Hehehe, yup. :) At least you hit them. When I'm gunning for an invader, it usually goes something like... Pull trigger, "shit I missed", pull trigger, "shit I missed", pull trigger, "shit I missed", POP to my dome... Well Hell, he didn't miss. :p That will happen about 6.5 seconds into his invasion being followed by me yelling at the screen... "DON'T FUGGIN' REVIVE ME"!!!! while the invader is staring right at me and the guy behind the rock next to me... revives me. :(
-
Oh boy it's rough out there 😂
-
I had one match that I got hit and the random team mate was standing right next to me behind a wall. Instantly revived me while I started cussing. 2nd time... Insta-revive. 3rd time. I just dropped my controller. 3 deaths to the same person in a single invasion. Luckily the random decided it would not be a good idea to revive me on the third death. I don't what an actual 'hissy fit' looks like, but I'm pretty certain I was in the middle of one when I spawned back in. I bet the invader was having a hell of a laugh at my expense. :)
-
Oh man 😂😂 Welcome to the farm I've done that many times myself
-
How's ya been mate?
-
Pretty good, pretty good. You doin' alright? Seems like you've been away from the forums for a while. Either that or we keep missing each other in threads.
-
Glad to hear it. Dumped the game 2 months ago. 3200 hours it took me to see what a massive pack of c***s Bungie really have become. Judging by the spate of upcoming nerfs, at a time the playerbase is dwindling and hugely dissatisfied, it was the right call. Loving the Division 2 right now. What's on your console nowadays, Destiny 2 aside?
-
I was thinking earlier that you might've moved on, but couldn't remember. As far as games on the console that I've actually been playing some... On the PS side it's mainly VR games with Robinsons Journey being the most recent of them. I might also be jumping back into Eve: Valkyrie Warzone shortly (that one gets my stomach rolling at times :) ). On the Xb side I play some some Forza, but have been getting deeper back into the Tomb Raider games. I also play a few smaller, puzzle style games here and there. It all really just depends on my mood at any given moment.
-
I don't know how you keep up with so many games? I struggle with 2...maybe it's an age thing?
-
I'm in my 50's Scotch! :p Seriously though, I typically don't put a lot of effort into most games I play. When I fired up Robinson's Journey a couple days back, I spent about an hour just wrapping my head back around how things work. The controls for that one are pretty simple. ;) I haven't messed with Warframe much since about a month after Plains dropped. When I tire of D2 THAT is the game that will swallow my time until D3 drops. It will also take me three or four days of solid amounts of play just to blow the dust out of my brain. :( I have noticed in the last few years that switching between games is getting more difficult for me though. That's one of the things I like about the puzzle style games (think of Portal, Syberia, etc...) the controls aren't real difficult and I pretty much just have to look at the controller layout in the menu and go back a couple puzzles/sections. By the time I get to the next new area I've pretty much cleared the fog enough to progress in some new areas.
-
I'm only a couple of years behind ya mate. Regarding your last paragraph, I struggle badly with different games. It takes me days to get the hanf of the controls. #agedgamerslivesmatter
-
That's a lot of the reason I truly enjoy the VR games. Other than the fact that (in my opinion) VR games are amazing (compare what we have now to when we were young (Asteroids, Pong, etc)... Due to having your face covered up, the controls typically remain pretty simple. Doom VFR pretty much pushes my limits on the actual control scheme. The rest of it is more about remembering how to get into menus and what to do once I'm there. :p
-
Because...well...reasons and stuff!!
-
It matter ms against invaders...
-
Man, I recently logged back in for the first time since November... Only to look at the different armor pieces I had collected that have all the perks I played my a$$ off to get, especially the enhanced perks. All I could do was stare at the screen, asking myself "I came back....for what exactly...?" I was going to add up the infusion cost of all my armor, but even that was just a waste of time. Not to mention, when I logged back in nothing seemed any different at all. Just went and ran a few activities that I enjoyed, realising I wasn't going to see any new weapons or armor, simply because I wasn't playing Gambit or Black Armory. I know a lot of people complain about the extremely limited loot pool that Forsaken brought us, but for God's sake, at least I got to play with some new toys without having to go full on white-knuckle to get them.... We're in the last season of the annual pass, and all I have to ask is this... Where the hell is all the loot?! Is that why you really killed off Cayde? I mean, technically, he did lie about the loot.....right?
