Coca-cola was a company that was being well-run that just happened to make a bad decision based on incomplete information.
But once they realized what they had done they quickly (by the standards of the time) course corrected.
Bungie has many of the earmarks of a company that is not being well-run...in an industry where many other studios seem to have significant leadership/management problems. So you may genuinely have people making decisions who don't understand that there is no "end-game" here for Bungie.
There is no long-term "win" here for them. They may succeed in keeping people mindlessly grinding in the short-term....but at the cost of damaging the franchise, their reputation, and destroying any remaning goodwill the player base has towards them.
While I'm not willing to quit the game entirely, I no longer play this game as an RPG....and like you, my wallet is closed until this situation gets a REAL fix. And the only REAL fix is to either remove them, or make them freely farmable like all the other currencies required for infusion.
PVE engagement yesterday was only 515K. In the middle of an Iron Banner week.....a Seasonal Event.....and the day after reset.
Not looking good, Bungie.
