Probably should start out with a disclaimer stating that this entire process can be patched / removed in the future, and that i May or May not be the one who should be given credit for this find, for while i haven't seen anyone else point this out, i still may not be the only one; also, it most likely isn't a good idea to do this, for it is (i think) an exploit to the game, which will be unfair to others who do not wish to use it.
Now, where was I?
I should start out with my load-out; warlock, skull / nova, 3 shotguns (toil & trouble, Last Man Standing, Tractor Cannon; kinetic & special shotguns are aggressive, which i found the best for this case, tractor cannon has a huge spread)
I shouldn't have to explain why Nova / Skull is good, so I'll move on to the Exploit i found
During one of my first runs, Me and a buddy successfully hit what I will proceed to call a "Reset Point," this being the end point of a string of branches, while serving the function of clearing the cleared branches so you may continue on fresh ones; My friend, before getting to the end of the last branch, fell and made an oof, dying as a result. Since this was a darkness zone, I go to my buddy's grave for the revive; That's when i realize, the timer stopped. This was the result of the Reset Point, being programmed to stop while you go and step on the plate.
Fast forward another few branches, and we spot some chests, and we get the idea to save them for when the reset point stops time; turns out, the chests stay programmed in, even when the branch isn't loaded in. Why is this important, you might ask? Well, the Chest gives 8 seconds to the timer per player, meaning you can make an equation that goes like this:
8S x C = T
S is Seconds, C is chests, T is time.
The optimal strategy is to have 1 player do all of the optional routes with nova / skull (it just makes ads cry) while the other player(s) go for the main exit (if you are a solo, go for the optional routes first).
after touching the reset point (do NOT touch the plate, only the square around the plate), go for the chests your 1 person / you (solo) missed, get the time added, and get the +20 seconds for resetting the Branches; I say this is infinite because, even on wave 102, me and my ONE partner were still GAINING time.
anyways thankies for reading k bai notice me dmg-senpai

Problem is that, for solo play, there's absolutely no point in doing this. The Firewalled version still has rather spongy mobs like the 3-man version, and once you get to the final platform, most of the previous mobs despawn. At that point, you have the average mob density of a patrol zone(maybe even less.) Not even a good place for general farming at that point. The effectiveness of this strategy also highly depends on your class and loadout. Can't really keep it up even with doom fang+aggressor sentinel because of the delay between branches. Still very high super uptime, but not enough to cut it, especially given how code of aggressor sentinel is pretty low-end in terms of boss damage(which matters most on particularly tough demons/proxies and, of course, the bosses at then.) If the mobs were denser and there weren't "empty spaces" between branches, I could probably keep going indefinitely. Bosses would never go down with solo sentinel shield as, even with potentially infinite uptime, the shield toss itself doesn't do enough DPS to kill 5 bosses in 5 minutes. The melee combo might, but you consume energy in doing so.
-
Tldr If I wanted to kill infinite adds I'd do loops on patrol....I got bored on my first run.....there needs to be a way to insta go to the bosses...
-
I found this exploit day one and me and my brother made it to wave 127 but decided to end it because we spent 2 hours doing it Don’t stay in the forest for two long ,you’ll go crazy
-
i was expecting a Will Smith Style rap of this is the story all about how, your life just got flip turned upside down, as you found a neat way and a cool exploit, that made your frothy naught really really moist...

Edited by AlphaHydrae8: 4/22/2019 2:10:38 AMAll these comments bashing people who go past 30 branches. Why? Of course there's no NEED for it. Its a video game, so really there's no NEED for ANY of it. Maybe people did it because, they thought it'd be fun to see how far they can get? Oh yea, I forgot that we're not supposed to be having fun in a VIDEO GAME. We're not supposed to play it how WE want to cuz "that's not the right way to do it" or "thats unnecessary." Again. Its a video game. Technically, the entire game is unnecessary if you're going by the definition of "need" and "want." Nobody NEEDS to hit 100 branches or more, they do it because, they WANT to. People seriously need to chill. The people who are going for a high branch number obviously know they don't NEED to. Not replying to any trolls or b8s, so save it. :)
-
I got to 61, but the emblem that tracks how many branches you've gone through still says 0. :(
-
You lost me at "should get credit"
-
I think the only reason to go past 20 might be chest farming. It isnt worth it for anything else. I've gotten all I want from the event, so I wont be farming the forest anymore.
-
This exploit was discovered within a couple hours of the event going live and is pretty widely known/used. Since the timer cannot go past 5 minutes, it's not that useful unless your team is struggling with DPS and you need as much boss time as possible (which also cannot go past 5 minutes, so going past branch 60 is useless - most people stop at 20-30)
-
I found this out a while ago but i didnt want to tell anyone. Thanks for letting out the secret mate!
-
I guess if you like doing a boring activity for longer than is necessary...
-
Sounds not fun
-
Furthest we got was 55 on my 2nd run. Seemed unnecessary to go past 30.
-
first time i did it i got to 50s, didn’t realize where bosses were so i just left
-
20 levels is enough with a competent team. I feel like it's unnecessary to go beyond 25 levels. If the end goal is the 5 chests at the end, better to run the 20-25 and merc the bosses, collect the loot and do it again. Kudos if you run 100+
-
Good concept, but why on earth would you want to spend an hour or more in the verdant Forrest? I start to get bored after the 25th branch or so.
-
Really no point of going past 20.
-
Getting to wave 107 unlocks the fate of all fools gun! Check out my grimoire card for it! Good luck guardians!

Edited by ramthesocket: 4/21/2019 6:48:07 PMLoving this genius equation which equates total time to the time per person.
-
I thought everyone already knew this
-
It’s already endless. My team ran it with a golden gun hunter and an arc strider lol. As long as you’re good at clearing trash mobs you’re good. Just using recluse you could get to wave 1000
-
on the one hand, who the hell wants that lol but on the other... nice! that's actually a pretty good one
-
Got to 100 my second run and didn't have to do any of this bullshit. Just Merc shit and collect chests. We stopped at 100 with over 3:30 on our time. Clearly easy as hell to do infinite. Lost all respect for Gladd and his crew glitching it. Those guys literally do nothing without exploits.
-
Ran it for so long I got motion sickness !

Edited by Talia Sendua: 4/21/2019 1:17:16 PMThe highest I reached the first time I played it with randoms we reached almost 31...
