I told myself that I was going to get the Suros Regime catalyst first, then I would work on the 3 new PvE catalysts. I put all other D2 activities on hold as I chase this catalyst. Well, 27 games of crucible later and I'm running out of steam. It doesn't fill me with confidence when I have only seen one person receive the SR catalyst during my grind.
Catalyst drop rates really need to be looked at. We need to have increasing chances at getting catalysts until it becomes a sure thing. I have 700 hours of play time invested in Destiny 2. To put that in perspective, this places me in the top 16th percentile for play time. Here are all the catalysts that drop from non-raid activities, that I just can't seem to get:
Riskrunner
Wardcliff Coil
Worldline Zero
Coldheart
*EDIT
I am dumb. I thought that the catalyst was supposed to have a high drop rate, and that it was only dropping during arc week. Based on how Bungie handled the Faction Rally catalysts, I thought that we wouldn't get another opportunity to get them.
*EDIT2
I won 17 of those 27 games: https://destinytracker.com/d2/profile/xbl/Never-EZ

40 games and it dropped. 3% droprate I believe
-
I’m curious is the drop rate better if you use the weapon?

Catalyst are end game content. They try to make them grindy to unlock and make them hard to get.

27 pshh I'm on 60 and I haven't got shit. I'm convinced my game is broken. Streamers getting it in like 3 games they must have their rng buffed so they can show shit off on YouTube and brag to everyone else.

Edited by W33DEDPLAGUE: 4/16/2019 7:27:22 PMIt's rng man, that's what destiny is built on. People need to stop expecting things to drop quickly...sometimes they wont. I've been doing the mountaintop quest for 3 weeks and dropped the catalyst yesterday, after almost 200 matches since it released. It may take a while. Basing your playtime around an rng item isn't always going to give you the result you are looking for. Just play what you want and eventually the catalyst will come. I don't think catalysts NEED to be easily or quickly dropped. They are more of a bonus item that happens when it happens but I know not everyone looks at it like that. Lol, I got the suros catalyst and THEN got the vigilance wing catalyst for a kill a couple of matches later...so it's been how long that I haven't had THAT ONE? Catalysts are fine the way they are, we don't need everythING to drop immediately after its released, it adds incentive to keep playing long-tern. Regardless, Im hearing it drops mainly on wins, so maybe that's part of it.
-
How many of those did you win though? I mean I agree the drop rate is low but you can only get it from a win.
-
Yeah dude every thing you want drops on command if you restart your xbox
-
You can't expect to get them straight away. They are supposed to be relatively rare man. It's an exotic component.
-
Its like a 0.5% Drop rate.

Edited by ScottF 2112: 4/16/2019 7:34:15 PMI played close to 150 PVP matches just last week since I just started the Mountaintop grind last Friday and was finishing Redrix before that. I have about 1250 total PVP D2 matches. I don't know if I have a single PVP drop catalyst. They seem to be pretty rare to me too.
-
No offense but did you honestly think you would have gotten it after only 27 games?
-
Go in mayhem
-
I got mine after 20 or so competitive games. I tried to use it in comp and I just couldn't. It's really bad against Luna's Howls and Dust Rocks.
-
Lmao I have all of those. Didn’t take long to finish neither to get once I actually started looking for them

Edited by Amazinite: 4/16/2019 6:32:45 AM27 games don’t sound like much to me. I only just got the Colony catalyst this Tuesday. I only just got the Coldheart catalyst the week before. It took me far more than 27 games before I even got my first Crucible catalyst, which was the Vigilance Wing catalyst that dropped either late S3 or early Forsaken. Good luck on getting those catalysts, though.
-
That would be nice to be sure to get to it after a reputation reset.
-
worldline zero - you must get kills with a sword in order to get the catalyst. do you use a sword? the other 3 are found in Heroic Strikes and Nightfalls - how many have you completed? and 700 hours is just scratching the surface, noob. (*wink) to put it in perspective - I have stopped playing since before the last dlc - was Top 2%, now considered Top 3%.
