Fair enough. Couple opinions:
1. Bungie should do a better job of clearly explaining, in-game, the effect light level has on weapon damage and player damage taken. The average player is blowing through their cores because they rightfully have the impression that light level is so significant that it's virtually required to be as high as possible just to play through content. Of course, this isn't true, but why wouldn't players think that's the case? On its surface, Destiny appears to be a strongly level-based game, and that's how such games operate. If the game explained light level clearly, with actual numbers, that would instantly alleviate most if not all of the frustration over enhancement cores. You don't need to be fervently upgrading everything you find, you can figure out your favorite load-outs and then do a little grinding to max it all out - which brings me to point 2.
2. Players need to be OK with having to do some grinding for end-game min/maxing. If you want to max out a few sets of your favorite gear, then we're talking about literal end-game stuff here. You don't need to masterwork gear to play any of Destiny's content. You don't even need max light level to do that. But, if you want the marginal stat gains from maxing out gear, well, that takes a little time. And that's not just OK, that's quite literally an industry standard for games like Destiny. This is why it's so absurd to me that so many kids are screaming to remove any and all grinds like enhancement cores - you're in the wrong genre, kiddo. Go play any of dozens of other titles where you can put in very little time and have a fully customized loadout ready every time you load the game. Let the rest of us enjoy having something to grind for and feel rewarded for earning over time and effort. And, yes, to millions of players, grinding is rewarding.
