The word Gamer is defined in the websters dictionary as:
a person who plays video games or participates in role-playing games.
That's such a skeletal categorisation of what being a Gamer is, and I think in the world as it is today and the industry of Game-making what it is, we should have a respectful discussion, about how to classify a Gamer.
Is a gamer one who simply engages in games? Well no, the dictionary defines it as much more than that. "...A person who plays video games or participates in roleplaying games" two vastly populated and diverse offerings.
Anybody would agree a football player though he is "playing a game" is an athlete and not a gamer, so we can wall of the realm of sports as totally unrelated to this discussion; But what about board game players, gamblers, hobby games- darts, cornhole, bocce (all arguably more skilled than athletic)... What about, dare I say it... mobile gamers?
What is a Gamer?
