Continued Enhancement Core and Mod Component Discussion

Hey all, A few weeks back, we talked about Enhancement Cores coming from Gunsmith bounties in the TWAB. I wanted to give a quick update on this, as it also involves Mod Components, which have been a topic of discussion as well. Please note- this is all still in development for Season of Opulence, and could change.
• Originally announced in the TWAB, these bounties would cost Gunsmith materials. This has been changed to Glimmer. • There will be multiple daily bounties to complete, each rewarding one enhancement core and two mod components • There will be two weekly bounties to complete. These will each grant one enhancement core, one mod (Weapon or Armor), and other materials or reputation/rank points depending on the objective of the bounty. • Note: When I say rank points, think Valor or Infamy, **not** Glory.
The team is continuing to evaluate feedback over mod components, enhancement cores, and rewards all up. Thank you for the continued feedback. We'll give you updates as we have them.

  • Enhancement cores are fine - adding more, OK, bonus. When are you going to discuss the ELEPHANT in the room when it comes to crucible and the lack of ability to achieve pinnacle weapons. Fabled NEEDS TO BE REMOVED IMMEDIATELY

    • So your telling me the improved system means that I will be able to grab a small limited number of bounties instead of the unlimited supply of scrapper bounties that I already recieve which can exceed 10+ a day on heavy play days. Sounds good for the mod components but not the cores. I bet they cost 5,ooo glimmer + also. No thanks.

    • Why on gods green Earth is a weekly bounty only giving me a single f-ing enhancement core? Are you guise taking us for bloody idiots? Seriously who is going to waste time doing a weekly bounty for ONE. F-ING! CORE! ???

      • Ever think about doing an in game survey for ANYTHING this controversial? You know, people log in, are presented with a quick questionnaire before the character select screen, then say thanks, give them a powerful engram for filling it out, then start the character select screen?

        • Not even close to fixing the economy. Endgame should be using cores to masterwork gear after we've grinded out our chosen gear. I personally, don't find your current system fun in any shape or form which is a shame, because the base gameplay is awesome. If you insist on keeping it as it is, fair enough, I'll move on, I just hope that's not the case.

          • Anyone who plays regularly can tell you these bounties cant compete with scrappers. I can grab 3 alone each day from scrappers and I GET glimmer for acquiring them They cost me negative parts and glimmer. And I usually get more than that... Its simply dumb, to say you're increasing access.. When really you're just controlling how we get them EVEN MORE. And blatantly removing a huge source of them which NOONE WANTED REMOVED. I honestly cant even believe I have to say this to grown men with degrees for this shit. Like "oh you hate infusion costing cores and bounties being lame and repetitive?" "Well, we wont remove the cost, but we will remove the only source of cores that rewards you any way you play. And replace it with more repetitive bounties!" "Reee"

          • Reduce the cost of all materials used for infusion not just 1 item. Reduce the price of mods from 10 to 5 mod components, and increase the mod components you get from dismantling a mod from 1 to 3 mod components. Reduce the cost of masterwork tiers by 2 cores.

          • I really feel like after reading your post Bungie, that you truly do listen to your community and that they are #1 to you. Destiny has never been in a better placed then it is now with this economy you made, these cores are really quite genius, the one item used the less amount and that has the hidden perk to chase players away from your game. Thank you bungie for such a meaningful expiernce

            • Weekly bounties should grant more than 1 core, not sure how many though. Otherwise I look forward to seeing how this works out compared to scrapper bounties.

            • Simple solution: have 3 enhancement cores drop alongside prime engrams. You get to keep your “choice matters” I earn more by playing the content I want.

Let’s assume here folks that there’s five daily plus the two weekly. 7 cores, do these for a week straight you’re at 49 cores. Get 49 cores on all three characters you get 147 within a week. This is only if there is 7 bounties. If there’s 3 like the destination vendors then you’re at 21 within a week, 63 on all three plus the two for the weekly for a total of 65. Guess what they listened to you. And you’re still complaining, why? The only problem is how you use these cores. Use them wisely and you’re good. Use them dumb that’s your fault. Edited for this part. Math is a bit off but the point still remains.

              • I still don't understand how this is an issue. Why are we even talking about enhancement cores still? You guys have provided adequate sources for obtaining enough cores, yet people continue to complain. This latest news is sure to be met with the same inane complaints. There are some people within the Destiny community that are beyond pleasing and will never be happy regardless of what you do. I hope the Spider bounties are staying, because those are great for obtaining cores. I think most of those who are complaining just don't know how to use their (valuable) resources wisely and perhaps are just not suited for this type of economy. Oh well. I love this game and I know you guys have done and are doing an amazing job. Keep it up!

Are you tired of the fluff and distractions from Bungie? I am going to start this off by saying I do not speak for everyone. I am sure there are a plethora of individuals that are still deeply invested in Destiny 2. However I will say this; I do not understand what direction the Bungie team is taking with Destiny 2. When I say “direction” I am referring to game content and updates. There is an ongoing trend of fluff and distractions released from Bungie. Many people may be blind to it, but I am not. There is so much fluff coming from Bungie it is incredible. Fans receive fluff when we push our concerns and issues at Bungie. The Bungie team replies with fluff. Fluff like, “we are listening” and “we are researching the issues”. That is fluff. Every release of content after Forsaken has been fluff. Fluff like; exotic emotes, vanity drops, sparrows, ornaments, subclass patches, reskined weapons...etc. I can see all the fluff and distractions Bungie is pushing toward fans. “Arc Week” is all fluff. Patches and fixes that should of been released with Forsaken are fluff and the team passes it off as content. Even this new update called “Revelry” is all just fluff. The infinite forest should of been established as a survival/dungeon type experience from the very beginning of its creation. The team should of established the infinite forest as another great PVE experience that is always accessible and offers meaningful content and loot after a completion. There is so much that could be done with that area of the game the possibilities are so vast. Yet the Bungie team continues to tease fans with that idea and remove it when they deem necessary. I will get off my high horse. I could continue but I will stop here. I just do not understand what direction the Bungie team is taking with Destiny 2. If a sequel is in the works and requires a majority of the team to be working on that; fine. However in my opinion Destiny 2 has been fluff and distractions since the game has come out. After the honeymoon phase fans realized this game was bleak and unrewarding. Destiny 2 at the core was not right. I say these things because I am a die hard fan. I love the lore, the story, the gameplay, and the community. If was not a fan I would not be here. I haven’t touched Destiny 2 in about a month. I hope Bungie learns from their mistakes and continues to develop great meaningful content/loot that will keep fans like me engaged for a long time.

                  • Give players the option to dismantle Prime Engrams and receive 5 cores per. Once max lvl that’s when you want to start MWing your gear and creating gun or ability centric builds. At max lvl pulling the slot machine by cashing in a Prime Engram for a good weapon or armour isn’t as impactful. Dismantling said engram and getting enough cores to fully MW a piece of armour is worthwhile. Little things like this Bungie will improve the player experience. Write the code already.

                  • Mr. dmg sir, Would you ask the devs and the current game director if a system could be put in place where weapons and armor could be masterworked by USING them and completing certain objectives per tier OR skipping the objectives and using Cores to advance each tier, if desired. Thanks!

One core. For a weekly bounty. When scrapper bounties yield 2 once in a blue moon. I mean... Do the devs really believe that we will all instantly stop playing if we masterwork too much gear or have more than 3 or 4 loadouts, right? What incentive is there for a player looking for cores to complete a weekly that will cost more / require more time and effort vs a daily ?!?! Depreciation due to overabundance is one thing. But this?? Do the devs get a portion of their salaries deducted for every core that drops or item that gets masterworked or something?? Really trying to figure this out... you know, since it's still not clear to most people just what it is you're trying to accomplish by insisting on continued use or presence of this resource (short of the obvious of course) and how it makes anything beyond continued player frustration "meaningful" or "impactful" And please don't say the added value of the weekly vs daily is a completely random mod... that is a separate convo / issue, a much less contentious one, so stop trying to obfuscate the issue surrounding core scarcity given their uses. People want / need more cores. Not a chance for more minor spec mods.

One core per bounty? Even the weekly bounty? Seriously?. They could have atleast made ir 2 for a daily and 4 for a weekly. We now have to spend infusion currency to gain infusion currency. I dont think bungie is listening at all to the community. Personally I will still play destiny regardless but I am so tired of throwing my favourite gear to the side just to feel powerful because I can't invest enough time to obtain masterwork cores. These bounties will increase the rate at which you can obtain Enhancement cores but there one significant problem with this. These bounties are going to make us do activities we don't want to do and that's an issue. I don't want to have to go into crucible to do a couple of matches to complete a bounty for one enhancement core and like wise for people that don't want to play PVE activities. I really do understand what Ehancemenct cores represent within the infusion system but like a lot of people believe that it needs to be changed. Enhancement cores require time to obtain which is a luxury not all of us have. I am not saying that people with a substantial amount need to be pointed out as no lifers because that's not the case, some people invest a big portion of their daily lives playing Destiny 2 and that is absolutely fine and there's nothing wrong with that. Some of us just don't have the time to invest and likewise, there's nothing wrong with that. The impactfull feeling of advancing gear just isn't present mainly because people either have a vast amount of cores allowing them to advance gear as they please which removes the impact all together or people have next to no cores and no enough time to obtain them that advancing gear becomes just a tiresome drag on the fun we have playing this great game. I have been enjoying the base gameplay of this game, I really have but I have not been enjoying and have thus been really annoyed and exhausted of not being able to use the gear I want. I am so tired of having to go into a nightfall or heroic strike playlist with a loadout tha that's predetermined by the loot system and whatever has the highest power level. I have the gear to get my loadout ready to suite the modifiers but I can't use it because it's power level is 20+ under and I don't have enough enhancement cores. I have the full set of hunter gear from the notorious engrams but I'll have to wait another 50 levels to use it because of the ridiculous cost of infusion. Yes I could infuse them all now but when I'm 10 levels higher in a few days time I'm just going to run into the exact same issue. Please I don't mind there being a cost to infusion but the current system needs to go and another one out in place Edit: I don't want to be able to just infuse at will, there needs to a currency in place, just to clear the air.

                          • If this is really the best solution ur Dev team can come up with then this game is really in trouble. For months ur community has been asking for them to be remove ,but whoever is making these decisions has decided it better to just piss off ur customers and insist they stay. Surely someone has to step in and tell these Dev to start listening to ur players before it gets to late . This Dev team is going to kill destiny if someone doesn’t step in soon and stop them playing power games against the players .
