Continued Enhancement Core and Mod Component Discussion

Hey all, A few weeks back, we talked about Enhancement Cores coming from Gunsmith bounties in the TWAB. I wanted to give a quick update on this, as it also involves Mod Components, which have been a topic of discussion as well. Please note- this is all still in development for Season of Opulence, and could change.
• Originally announced in the TWAB, these bounties would cost Gunsmith materials. This has been changed to Glimmer. • There will be multiple daily bounties to complete, each rewarding one enhancement core and two mod components • There will be two weekly bounties to complete. These will each grant one enhancement core, one mod (Weapon or Armor), and other materials or reputation/rank points depending on the objective of the bounty. • Note: When I say rank points, think Valor or Infamy, **not** Glory.
The team is continuing to evaluate feedback over mod components, enhancement cores, and rewards all up. Thank you for the continued feedback. We'll give you updates as we have them.

  • Almost 6000 comments (this thread and the one you removed) and no actual discussion. Of all recent ‘discussions’ this has to be up there with negative feedback. Any discussion on such a contentious topic would be difficult but the silence from Bungie is deafening.

Don't let this event fool you. We STILL need core removed or a lot of them to drop. - Flash point - Heroic public events - Night fall final loot chest - Iron banner bounties - Etc Give us a reason to want to do these things because If season 7 hits and the masterwork core economy and powerful engrams are the same you can bet your ass players will legitimately quit the game....for real this time. 3-4 seasons of bad economy and straight up ignoring players cries. You are not struggling to find a better solution bungie, you are just choosing the worse thing to stick to your guns on. And I promise you, players saying the economy is fine doesn't have the game's best interest at heart. Perfect progression system was during age of triumph. It's can't possibly be hard to make the system good again. Hell, forsaken had a good system.....until you beat the campaign and the system went to shit. Not only that, infusion cost way too much....of everything. Including glimner. Edit: and I'm not talking one core per bounty or game type bs either. Ffs the forest event gives you 1 a day. None of this is satisfying and is insulting to me. Infusion will never be meaningful this way, nor should it. Every season I wear random stuff to bump my light up just two eventually where the stuff I was wearing before the cap was raised because it's has the mods and stats like and worked for. Your current system sucks.

        • Let’s be honest, you guys will take cores out or completely shift the way they will work for the September expansion to help sell it. Same reason Faction Rally never came back. It will help sell the September dlc. Maybe some form of Trials will too.

How much did the studio spend on creating the Revelry for it to bump PvE numbers up to 616k players yesterday? Just curious because I remember back before everyone got completely fed up with the forced grind of meaningful infusion and daily upkeep costs to use our gear, the game used to average over a million in PvE to start new seasons. When cool new content doesn't bring players back... That's a sign.

Those that did not have that option are stuck with mindless grind, bungle summers coming, guess what happens to player base in summer, think hard on it bungle

                      • The biggest issue woth cores (besides them being necessary for infusion which is assinine) is they don't provide any impact to the game. They aren't impactful. Masterwork perks are barely, if at all, noticeable. The armor perks are garbage and are not percievable. The weapon perks are barely percievable and dont have any impact on player experience. So. Cores are a rare commodity that is useless and lacks impact. Thus, Bungie's reasoning is faulty. Thus, they should be removed. OR. Make masterwork perks percievable. Either way, remove cores from infusion.

                          • I’ll ask again why hasn’t anyone from Bungie joined in on this discussion? Surely the Dev who thinks cores should stay should be on here and try to defend his decision to keep them. Wait until they want to sell us something they will discuss plenty then . But I guess it’s hard to defend a system you know is broken ,and to remove it would highlight even more the lack of loot there really is in a loot based game . Cores has become Bungie idea of end game .

                                  • Aaannnndd with this most recent TWAB I'm out. Quit the game a month ago because of this problem, stayed in the forums to see what was happening because with 6000+ comments saying this was a bad idea I thought Bungo-FunGO might have sat up and paid attention. But nope. They wanted a discussion, I've made my opinions to to them (we all have) but their continued refusal to accept that they have genuinely screwed up means I'm done even trying to help fix this hot mess.

                                    • Everybody hates them. Except all those people who had the fortune to rinse the recent exploit, are you going to remove their cores? I don't think so. So why would you continue to think that they are a good idea and fair to all, some have thousands because of an exploit and others have very few. Ultimately you will probably ignore the popular opinion.

                                        • Yeah, no, thanks. That isn't going to improve anything. More than likely, it'll end up just highlighting more issues with your team's concept of "endgame" progression, especially when powerful drops still only seem to consider what your overall power is, not what you have equipped, or even in your inventory. By the time I get to max, the next season is out and the max is pushed again. Doesn't really give many the opportunity to actually improve their gear and make fun set-ups if they only have so much time and prefer to actually play what is ACTUALLY FUN. Checklist bounties are chores, not content, Bungie. Given it's been, what, 4+ years, one would think your team would realize that. Having to choose between one of many different aspects that are held back because of cores is not my idea of fun, nor "meaningful"(as you guys like to insist) progression. Max power, masterworks, a varied arsenal, aesthetics, etc., the core mechanic simply delivers a thorough smack to the face of anyone who cares about two or more of those aspects, and either forces players to forgo the things they actually want to accomplish, or forces them to spend an absurd amount of time doing generic checklists in order to reach what actually makes the game fun. Ultimatums and more layers of restrictions and forced mechanics are not fun. It's really not hard to realize that, nor is it hard to simply admit that you WANT players to waste their time. At least be honest, and not hide behind nonsense like "meaningful" whatever.

For a moment I thought Bungie had come to the wonderful conclusion of removing them and not told anyone yet. I tried it, they hadn’t, the app is just poor.

Not only does that maintain their purpose (Masterwork is essentially the "final state" of a piece of gear), but it also satisfies a big concern that the community has had for some time now.
