Penalized for reaching max light level?
Is it just me, but it seems like all of my weapons are doing less damage now that they are 700. And enemies are cutting through me in gambit and forges like I’m wearing no armor? So does this game penalize you the higher your light level gets? What’s the point of getting more powerful if this is the case?

Level damage has always been scaled in destiny to make a ‘fair’ playing field for the AI. But you are correct in thinking... there are a few points as you level up where you do feel more powerful and can overcome enemies with the same weapons and take more damage because you are in between their scale jumps. However you tend to jump past those very quickly and it’s back to being squishy. Nothing about levelling to 700 matters when the top activity is 680.
