—Appalachian mountains, Old America—
The skies were quiet. Usually, there would be a few birds here and there, but here there were none. Keksis was a stoic and fearless Captain, but even he seemed unnerved by the silence around large Warmind vault they saw before them. A grove of trees hid it from view from the air, and camouflage coated the exterior of the large door.
Whoever put it there didn’t want it to be found.
It couldn’t be found. Not unless you were looking for it, and had the right key. Luckily for him, Keksis had just that.
“Enter the access code.” He ordered.
A Dreg crept up to the console. He entered a few keystrokes.
Moments later, the huge doors of the Vault opened, like a giant maw of a primordial beast, ready to swallow them up.
“Follow.” Keksis barked.
The group made their way through the hallways and passages of the vault, their weapons were drawn. Many Fallen were known to meet their end in vaults such as these.
The only thing that met them was silence. Eery, haunting silence.
“I grow tired of this quiet,” Keksis said as they reached the inner chamber, “search for the hidden terminal, it must be in here.”
They turned over boxes of old Golden age weapons, crates of materials and repair tools. They searched the gaps and crevices of the vault chamber but found nothing.
“This is taking too long!” Keksis boomed.
In anger, he fired off a shot into the wall. The wall lit up, and split in two, revealing a hidden door.
They entered and found themselves in a huge chamber. Hundreds of frames lined the walls, and a large walkway led to the center of the room where a terminal was located. In front of it, a large, transparent cylinder rose straight through the ceiling.
Keksis chuckled. “We found it, boys.“
He tapped a button on the control Terminal.
“/ACCESS KEY REQUIRED/“ an automated voice said.
With a few more taps, the Splicer entered the code.
“/ACCESS GRANTED. STAND BY FOR SCAN/“
“Scan?”
The machine made a humming noise as a beam of light shot out from a hidden panel, passing over Keksis’ body.
“/SCAN COMPLETE. SPECIMEN ACCEPTABLE/“
Keksis made a cry of surprise as he was suddenly transmatted into the cylinder, and the machine started making an ungodly hum.
“/BEGIN FUSION SEQUENCE/“
The machine started humming louder, and louder, and louder still. It was so loud that Keksis’ ears were hurting, almost to the point of bleeding.
“/POWER CHARGED. COMMENCE PRIMARY IGNITION/“
Two orange bolts of energy sparked from inside the cylinder, and started striking the doomed Eliksni.
Keksis screamed as his crew watched in horror.
“DO SOMETHING!” He yelled, “DESTROY IT!”
Before they could raise their weapons, they heard the high pitched whine of energy weapons from behind them. 4 large combat frames stood on the doorway.
“/DO NOT INTERRUPT THE PROCESS, OR FACE DESTRUCTION/“ one of them boomed in a deep, monotone voice.
The splicers had no choice but to lower their weapons.
Keksis, sensing his impending doom, dropped to his knees and braced for the inevitable.
“/ALL PARAMETERS STABLE. COMMENCE FUSION/“
The cylinder was filled with orange light as Keksis yelled in pain one last time, then went dark as the Eliksni slumped over.
In his mind he heard a voice.
“Is it you?”
