After waiting what seems like forever, we finally have access to The Corrupted strike as a nightfall so I can get my Horror's Least and finally knock that off the list of requirements for the Cursebreaker seal. Instead of relief and a feeling of progression, I'm filled with frustration that due to RNG I have been thoroughly locked out of access to the weapon and therefore the title. The Wayfarer title was notoriously locked due to the Strange Terrain strike not being a nightfall for many weeks.
Even if you have access to the nightfall that gives you the unique drop you want (whatever it may be), it means you need to put in time farming and repeating the same strike until you get the RNG to be in your favor - which could range from getting it first try or having to farm for hours. Thankfully the system is in place to give you a higher chance of a drop the more you don't receive the drop, but most players don't have the time or patience to do the same activity over and over with the intent of getting a single weapon that could be randomly rolled horribly.
At least with Black Armory weapons you know that every time you complete a forge with a frame you will receive the weapon you want in addition to possibly getting some of the rebooted legendary weapons added to the pool, the forge exclusive exotics, armor pieces, and at the very least some progress on emblems or the bounty for your next powerful black armory frame.
Aside from the 1 powerful vanguard gear that comes with a Nightfall high score completion, there is no reason to complete Nightfalls with modifiers - it is more efficient to just burn through them as fast as possible to try and get as many chances at the exclusive as possible which means, frankly, that Nightfalls are some of the easiest content in the game. It's more tedious than anything to try and get a fireteam together willing to do nightfalls with a small random chance at a decent reward, to the point where I honestly find it easier to get 6 people for a raid than 3 for a braindead farming session.
Now on top of all this, there is no reason whatsoever to play the Heroic Strike playlist other than the initial powerful vanguard gear and making progress toward the pinnacle weapons, and even then I have no incentive to do a heroic strike that could (and will most likely) give me crappy armor or weapons I already have for an irrelevant light increase on one piece of gear. I could do a nightfall that is easier, gives me more progress on the pinnacle weapon, and gives me a chance at unique loot - it's a no brainer.
So Bungie, I implore you to do these 2 things that will majorly improve the strike system:
1. Revamp the Nightfall exclusive loot - no offense but no one is going to grind for -blam!-ing "exotic" cosmetics that are weak re-skins of other easily acquirable gear AND no one is going to grind for Year 1 weapons that are inherently weaker than everything else in this game now. Update these weapons to have Year 2 perks and mod capability (honestly do this with every Year 1 weapon and armor piece but that's another can o' worms), and add some unique nightfall armor that can get enhanced perks go wild just give us more useful rewards from this "endgame" content.
2. Add Nightfall Exclusive loot to the Heroic Strike Playlist - give us a reason to play your game, even if it's still RNG rather than a skeleton key system like in D1 do it so we don't have to wait weeks upon weeks to get a chance at gear. It's beyond frustrating that I have a *limited* time to have a *small* chance at getting a weapon that is likely randomly rolled with trash, and wastes my time with blue rewards more often than not. Give us a higher chance at the gear if we do the nightfall, not the ONLY chance.
This could be implemented very soon I would imagine, all you'd have to do would be to add gear to the loot pool of Heroic Strikes and increase drop rates on Nightfalls - no major changes to code and all that just an increase in values I would think. Granted, I don't make video games and this could be harder than I make it seem, but this is one of the many steps Bungie can take to improve this game. I'd love to start this conversation and see how the rest of the community thinks, cause I think it's something that would be very positive for Destiny 2.

Edited by Izzi: 3/30/2019 6:27:41 AMOr just add Skeleton Keys and Golden Chests like how we had in D1. That would be epic. EDIT: I made this comment without reading the entire post. My bad, just disregard this lmao
