But I don't use most of them. I build all these teams and they just kinda sit there. It seems like I have more fun making the teams than actually battle with them. Like, I like pokemon battling, but I prefer to just do random battles than to use the teams I build. Doesn't make me enjoy building them any less though.
To the small amount of people that actually click on this post, do you have any similar feelings? Like, are there some games where you have more fun coming up with builds than actually testing them?
Edit: for the second part I don't just mean pokemon lol

I enjoy both parts, one of my favourites to come up with builds though is warhammer 40,000 tabletop, the number of absurd ideas I’ve come up with for lists is countless
Among them is, a necron list that would allow me to trigger the Tesla ability on a +4, Tesla weapons have an ability “on a hit roll of +6 this weapon scores 3 hits instead of 1” this roll is affected by modifiers Take at minimum a full size unit of immortals an overlord, and a choice unit just to inflict wounds, use sautekh dynasty rules Use my will be done on the immortals, then have the choice unit wound your target, use the methodical destruction stratagem to add one to hit rolls against a target which has been wounded that turn. If the immortals fire on that target they’ll be at plus 2 to their hit rolls causing Tesla to trigger on +4 from +6. Tesla carbines fire two shots each for a total of twenty shots from a full size unit, base. statistically half of those will trigger Tesla, so on average you’re getting an additional 30 hits. In theory you’ll have enough potential damage to destroy a baneblade TLDR: ten space robot skeletons inflict a metric -blam- ton of shooting

another list I came up with involves dark angels and a knight. Take a squad of reivers, an interrogator-chaplain, a knight, and a librarian Give the interrogator chaplain the eye of the unseen relic, which stacks with aura of dread giving him a 6” leadership -2 aura. Give the knight a relic (with a name I can’t remember) that inflicts leadership -2 on units within 6” The reivers also happen to have a leadership -1 aura For a total of -5 leadership on enemy units Now you’re probably wondering “how’s the librarian fit into this?” Well the dark angels interromancy discipline psychic powers are good at targeting leadership. With Trephination you roll two D6, then add the total, for every point the result exceeds the targets leadership they take a mortal wound. On top of that, engulfing fear gives your librarian an aura that forces enemies within 6” to roll two dice when taking a moral check and discard the lowest result (For morale, normally you roll one dice then add the number of losses that unit suffered that turn, for every point it exceeds the units leadership another model is lost) TLDR, this gives the bravest soldiers humanity has to offer the courage of a small child
