Why was Destiny 1’s armor so much better? What happened to knights and wolves and fire for the Iron Banner gear? Or the Egyptian style trials gear? Or the cool glowing ornaments for Crota’s End armor? The list goes on and on.

Omg the armor is so ugly and I thought to myself for a couple days “Why does the armor in Destiny 1 look so much better than the armor in Destiny 2” and it hit me like a ton of bricks. The reason I believe the armor looks so bad is because Activision was severely pushing sales out if Bungie so they came up with an idea to botch most of the armor in the game and make all the cool cosmetic armor ornaments in the Eververse where they want you to pay with real money to look cool. Has anyone seen the Last Wish Raid armor? Omg it looks like the worst armor set in the game, in Destiny 1 people use to do the raids for ALL the loot because the armor actually looked cool and was worth getting. But now in Destiny 2 people only want to do the raids for some of the weapons and I mean mostly the Exotic weapons you can get only from Raids like 1 Thousand Voices, Vex Mythoclast and Eyes of Tomorrow. My current friends didn’t get to grow up with Destiny 1 and every time I tell them about how much better the Destiny 1 raid armor was they say “I don’t even do the Raids for the armor I do it for some of the weapons. Don’t get me started on the reprised Vault of Glass Raid in Destiny 2. They didn’t even bring back the Year 3 Destiny 1 Age Of Triumph Vault Of Glass armor that made you look like a Vex and glowed, instead they brought back the very old Year 1 Destiny 1 armor that looks like poop. Another complaint is how they didn’t bring back the Autorifle or Pulse Rifle that was in the Vault of Glass which doesn’t surprise me since Pulse Rifles, Scout Rifles and Auto Rifles have lived in the shadow of Fusion Rifles, Shotguns and Hand Cannons in PvP for almost 3 years. I use to use Auto Rifles and I loved them and Mainer them and did decent in PvP. Now I suck at PvP because since I last played they added cross play and made Hand Cannons the best so now we have PC players that have more precise aiming with mouse using a weapon which is a Hand Cannon that relies on Precise aim just running PvP. I’m done rambling but Bungie if your reading this just know that I hope ditching Activision is a good step in the right direction for your beloved game I really hope they was the reason things went so south like every other game they touch.

What armor sets in the last few seasons have you liked and disliked. I really love the Forge and Gambit Prime sets. We have given feedback that a lot of players preferred the Wolf/Knight aesthetic for Iron Banner sets as well as how much everyone loved the glowing raid ornaments. -
Guradians never stand out now. I remember inspecting people in the tower because they looked really cool. Everyone looks so similar now
-
I'm not sure who was in charge of making those Destiny 1 armor sets we've all enjoyed but Bungie needs to put that person or team back on duty to make better armor sets in Destiny 2. There's very few armor sets I enjoy, Dreaming City armor is being one of them. To me, the current iterations of Iron Banner armor are being hit in a bad way. Dull, boring and ugly.
-
The Sunbreak set is very reminiscent of the TTK era titan armor.
-
Imagine if The Reckoning had its own Nine themed armor for the large amount of players that don’t care about Gambit.
-
Anything Titan is just awful and I'm not quite sure why...The armor is so bad in fact that it made me switch to maining Warlock. Never looked back.
-
WHAT WE MISS D1 Raid armour (Both new and old version) Trials Armour (Egyptian themed armour) D1 Iron Banner Knight Armour D2 New monarchy Lion Armour (Why were all these armour sets forgotten) D1 Hunter Capes (those capes were big, clean, had nice graphic designs) Most D2 armours a torn small, CAN WE HAVE BOTH?
-
Destiny 2 armor is UGUU uwu
-
Crota, ib and trials gear were all sexy af!! More enemy themed armor, guns! Also stop giving warlocks gay handbags and 40 pouches on every chest piece, it’s space magic not politically correct 2019 guardian edgy hipster trash... prime chest piece looks amazing except for the dumb ass pouches...
-
D1 armor was head and shoulders above D2.
-
I agree fully with this post. Some armor in D2 is cool, don’t get me wrong, but there really isn’t a lot of variety. I see a lot of people using the same armor sets as other guardians do. I remember in D1, I could see all the super bright raid ornamented armor and the all white and neon guardians. I know I know, “what about honors of the nine” that’s an exception. I do like how they are bringing back old armor sets, like the Sunbreak set and the Warlock Eververse set is the green uncommon armor from D1.
-
Heres and Idea. Allegiance armor. What if the Vanguard Allegiance armor set Was the Old Chroma armor from D1 for the Titan? and Improved Chroma armors for the Hunter and Warlock? Since Gambit already has Shiny armor with snakes, Why not let Vanguard exclusive allegiance armor have similar flair for those who remained faithful. Armor Pieces that randomly drop exclusively from strikes and Vanguard related tasks... not patrols obviously. WITH ENHANCED PERKS DAMMIT. Allow more enhanced perks, there is no legit reason primary weapons like sidearms/smg/pulses/autos/scouts can't have an enhanced perk for each when friggin shotguns and Handcannons can... like the META needs even more power. smh

Agreed,if it rains any titan with gambit arms are in trouble

I would say that less is more. So many of the amor sets, especially for the hunters and warlocks have too much going on. There's too many pouches, cords, books and other random stuff just thrown on the armor. Titans are too bulky. My Titan in D1 still looked tough but was sleek. Hunters are not ninjas, please less tights and turtle toes and more boots and pants. Also, please stop putting strange things on the cloak hoods (see above) The warlock bonds are very basic. In D1 I remember having ones that were on fire and had other cool effects, please return to that. Please stop having portions of armor that don't except shaders, it sucks trying to get a certain look and having chunks that just don't change. I've noticed since the forsaken baron robes that some of the armor has the same modeling for born male and female warlocks. It's very odd looking, please let my lady have an actual shape. Less flashy shaders in golds and bright colors and more subdued ones...super black shader anyone?
-
Seriously why do warlocks have pouches and handbags... armor was made by pink hair libs. From space magic to this boring crap.Always trying to be politically correct even in a game... Why is it so hard to add loot?

Edited by ManBlaster: 3/27/2019 1:12:22 PMDoes Iron Banner Gear need to look like Medieval European knight armor? No. But that armor looked pretty sweet. We loved It. It set the bar. Is the Wolf/Samurai/Horned armor from D2 S1&S2 good? Yeah it was pretty cool and had interesting cultural themes mixed in. Then the shiny ripply armor and weapons came out and it was gross and has been since then. Although this season looks sleeker it still no where near what D1 had and not as fascinating as the beginning of D2. Are there other cultural or animal-esque designs that could be explored? Hells to the Yes. Warlords Vs Iron Lords. What animals are known to be sworn enemies? Cobra/Mongoose maybe? sounds weird but its really just an Idea to build off of. These slimmer designs this season could be morphed into animal shapes down the road. Blam-ing Dinosaurs?Dragons with Scales? WHY NOT?! IDK it would be more interesting that's for sure. Lol, dino/lizard armor and I'm totally playing the rest of D2 as an Argonian :P Scales, Fur, Bones(Gheleon?), Dead ghosts from enemy warlords? Sounds dark... might make sense if the lore suddenly points to Iron Lords not being so good guys. Not to mention The crucible armor that looks like the titan set is some kind of sword fetishist with peacocks on its shoulders and a mullet and bald spot on its head. ***VOMITS***

I agree that armor in Destiny 1 looks better, but to be honest it wasn't much better. The character models, especially the difference between genders, were much better. Destiny 2 is just unnecessarily chunky with lazy model design.
-
Titan helmets are too small, except the one with the wing things. It makes them look like pin-heads. Hunter cloaks are mostly raggedy and torn. I use an old one with no perks instead. Hunter masks make Hannibal Lector look good by comparison. Warlock coats are either nice exotics with lousy perks - sidearm, blunt stick, spitball, slingshot - or ugly with mismatched perks - sword/pizza, scout rifle/dog leash, machine gun/iPhone. In D1 my hunter was dressed all in shiny gold. In D2 she's strictly Walmart clearance. In D1 my Titan was all chrome with gold accents. In D2 he's got a trash-can helmet, a tire around his middle, pink tights, and sneakers with holes in them. In D1 my warlock radiated smoke and flames. In D2 he has a man bun, a wrinkled coat with a belt that won't change colors, and work boots like the ones I just threw out.

Iron banner gear used to be so great in Destiny 1.
-
I miss the Y1 Titan armor... we looked like actual soldiers/tanks...
-
the last 2 season of Iron banner armor have been pretty bad. This season isn't to bad though. Not great, but certainly better.

Edited by Biggs: 3/27/2019 10:40:19 AMI think the thing about armors is that there's so much potential, but what we're missing is ornaments. These armor sets could look a lot better with ornaments to go with them. We haven't seen armor ornaments in what? 2 or maybe 3 seasons? And it also doesn't help that the vendor armors really haven't changed now in awhile. And leave little to the creativity of what we got in D1. Yes..there was some bad armors in D1. But, overall, the armors in D1 had more of a charm to them than the armor sets we're just being handed in D2. I for one don't really care about the more newer sets. The armors you can get from Reckoning really only have 1 purpose, and that's for Gambit Prime. In general, they're ugly armors in my opinion. I actually don't mind this seasons Iron Banner armor (I find the Hunter set looks good in the New Age Black Armor shader). But then again, not everyone is gonna wanna play IB to get a chance of getting a full set since the bounties don't always drop armors. In fact, I only got 3 of the 5 armor pieces from bounties. The other 2, I had to buy from the vendor and infuse to make 700. Dreaming City is a great armor set. And well worth acquiring and getting Transcendent Blessing put on it. But the issue with this armor set is that I would love to see the armor update in a new season. Like maybe make a darker version? A more Taken version of it? After all, the Dreaming City is still in a curse on repeat. So making the armor set somehow becoming effected would be awesome.

Omg yes. They really need to up their game with the armor. I'm way more fashion over function, and the new armor these past few seasons are just shitty excuses of life. This season's Iron Banner armor is horrible. Bring back season 1 Iron Banner armor.
