In such a heavily team based game it is completely unacceptable to match solo players with pre-made teams of 3-6 players. It is so much of an advantage that as a solo player in a team of other random solo players it is impossible to counter a team that knows what it's doing. It is insanely frustrating to fail because of factors outside of your control, especially when you are doing everything right. It is quite simple just bad. Unacceptable.
This problem was in the game since the Beta. I'm quite convinced that it is the number 1 reason why players hate PvP and why so many refuse to play it.
Weapon inconsistency, connection inconsistency, complete lack of security and lack of bans outside of twitter/youtube drama, extremely long unkillable uncounterable Supers, all of this is nothing compared to broken matchmaking problem.
Essentially Bungie is using solo players as cannon fodder for stacked teams. They put solo players in games where no matter what they do, no matter how hard they try they cannot win. They will lose and it won't be their fault. It is infuriating. It is such incomprehensibly bad design, truly nothing can redeem this kind of trait.
Think about it, what exactly does this accomplish? Probably it provides faster matchmaking times. But who the hell want to matchmake into a broken game? Clearly cutting the max team size by half would be a better solution. It will provide balanced, winnable games with faster matchmaking. Max pre-made party size of 2 would eliminate this and put everyone on a lot more even ground.
Reducing max party size to 2 players will provide a more even, consistent experience where players can have an enjoyable time. Dying over and over to stacked team is not fun. It is quite frankly the most frustrating experience I've had in any video game, further amplified by Destiny 2 simple, lane-based map design and lack of tools to deal with multiple opponents such as fast TTK or powerful, readily available grenades.
Even with these tools added to the game, it will still be incredibly frustrating to play against a pre-made team.

If they ever do this, you kids will find another excuse to losing all the time so the change would be pointless. I play in every type of scenario and never have I noticed a difference when going up against a team of randoms than going up against a “stacked” team. Get better or play a different game.

Reduce party size? Do you suffer from a mental ill ess?
-
They should also add the option to opt in/out of the join-in-progress feature in the modes where it applies. Sadly, matchmaking in D2 is shockingly bad, and Bungie have little to no desire to address it. PvP. Gambit. Forges. Reckoning. Unforgiveably bad for a supposed 'AAA' title in 2019...

Solo players should only be matched with solo players. Premades should only be matched against premades or teams of players with a higher rating. If that means they have to wait longer, so be it. If they want faster queues, queue solo. It’s really that simple.

There's a way to fix PvP in Destiny, for started let me just say this: I'M A AWFULL PVP PLAYER, but, I'm also smart enough to understand why is so frustrating for a casual player plays PvP in destiny: Reason 1: Crucible was designed to be a Player vs Player experience for those who care about how good or bad are their skill fighting against other players. BUT, with Destiny System - a Loot /Action/Shooter game with some "customization" - there's a problem of too many and too little. Too many options of guns layout, but to little effective ones. Reason 2: PvE and PvP are 2 separate things...Or should be. Every time a weapon is designed to be added to the game, there's a shift on balance, an OP weapon will be nerfed before is released just to not shift the meta too much. So, there won't be ever the feeling of greatness and power cuz, in PvP this feeling will be carry over, and those who have those weapons will rule and make everything just not fun or cool for those who haven't. Reason 3 Of the 3 class on the Destiny System, only Hunter's was made and balance for a PvP experience, and I get it, I have one myself, its a high mobile character, with a kit made to be an assassin or ranger like guardian, and I saw a few great Titans and Warlock, but its 60% Hunters , 25% Titans and 15% Warlock, in general. So, fighting against a high mobility character, who Can jump, and Run Faster there is a necessity of a high handling weapon to try to fight it, or a Shotgun like weapon and this is actually not cool, cuz this limits my layout options. In my opinion it's really easy to balance PvP 1-Removing Heavy ammo and replacing with Special Ammo - There's no surprise arguments, we all know why. It's unhealthy right now. 2 -Super's should be a high Risk - high reward system, so if u are using a super u should be vulnerable to damage, I mean , very vulnerable. A hunter should be running towards a team firing at him and jump and slashing everything so easily, and this should be equal to all class, so PvP players should be smart on use this "pwer" and not just a panic bottom or a Unfair System that can't be fighting against. And GOOD man, with all that "we lost our light, with Ghaul and etc, why not training to be a force who doesn't need the Traveler". 3-Only crucible weapon's alow and Pinnacle weapons stay in Competitive and PvE game. So if you want to use these powerfull PvP weapons you should, be, there's a place for it. A Crucible's only weapon its easy, just add a pre-combat phase where u can select it, or a prestige system that u can't use anything different for that. This would allow a more friendly system to balance weapon statistic and variety. After a few adjustments Iron Banner's weapon should be added as well and probable Trials too. Exotic's PvP should also stay in competitive! 4-Competitive Solo Q and Duo Q - no more fireteam playing together in competitive. 5- Rank System for Competitive rewarding those who can sustain long periods of time playing in Fable for example. 6 - More combat options and weekly challenge just like how prestige works today

Edited by Nox Lumina: 3/26/2019 7:19:14 AMSo I shouldn't be allowed to play with my friends in my clan because you can't be -blam!-ed to get friends yourself. This has to be the dumbest post I've ever seen on these forums. And I've seen many a stupid post. Either that or some serious bait.
-
Some people just group up because they want to have fun, I do it myself. What's disgusting is the people 6 stacking w/ Lunas only fireteams
-
In such a heavy team based game it surprises me that people still go into comp solo
-
This post is gonna upset all the tryhard losers. Good Job!

I don’t think teams are the problem, it’s bungie putting solo players of varying skill on the same team. Usually a stacked team’s overall kd after a game will be about the same a lot of the time. While a team of solo player’s kd’s will often have a couple players doing well and the rest barely able to go positive.
Seriously: Stop Matching Solo Players With Parties, Restrict or Remove Ability to Play in a Praty from PvP
Exactly! Every fking match tonight has been against sweaty stacked teams and it makes the game MISERABLE to play! Keep driving away players Bungie, you seem to be really good at that lately
-
Just need a solo queue added to all PvP style activities. Problem solved.
-
This Is the same shit in gambit too. It is the worst problem for those activities and has never been fixed
-
...... I'll never understand the taboo of actually having friends in an online game. That's literally what they're made for......... This community truly is unique
-
They don’t have a big enough player base probably to do this as much as I agree with you
-
The fact that some people on these forums think that this game is “competitive” is just beyond me lmao
-
Just give up
This problem was in the game since the Beta. I'm quite convinced that it is the number 1 reason why players hate PvP and why so many refuse to play it.
the reason players hate pvp is because they don't work at it. i used to be the worst pvp ever and now i like to think i can hold my own. if people would work at it its a lot of fun. but people play one game and lose to someone who has worked at it and then complain it sucks. not the games fault you don't practice
-
4 stacks usually suck in my experience. Bungie said in a TWAB sometime in season 3/4 that stacks would be matched against people of higher glory to compensate for the fact that they're playing as a team and, in my experience, it works. I actually love seeing a 4 stack before the game starts.
-
I'm going to be honest. You aren't as good as you think you are. I have almost entirely solo queued to fabled in just over a week of comp. I only have like 1. 2 kd. I'm not even that good. It is entirely possible to do well as a solo player. If you're not making progress solo then find a team. If you're as good as you think you are then you won't struggle to find a great team. Comp is competitive. It's a team based game mode. The game mode is designed around team play. It should cater to team players because that is what it is designed around.
-
Sure. Let's wait in orbit for an hour. That's fun. Quit being some lonely weirdo and find some friends to play with. A surprisingly large part of Crucible that has stacks are only people trying to have fun with friends, such as my fireteam.
-
The “connection based matchmaking system” places 1-2 very high elo or k/d players with the remaining players on the team being novices. They are attempting to create a guided-games scenario with the newer players. Without doing this the newer players won’t see amazing plays happen or end content gear. I don’t really know what the point of this is. IMO all this does is force the better players to sweat their asses off if they want to simply win a game. From personal experience I have dropped nearly 60 defeats in a game resulting in a loss because my entire team goes negative. This shouldn’t happen. I would rather sit in orbit waiting for an actual game with people who know how to play. The low tier players should all be in their own lobbies separate from the higher tier players.

Edited by Endymion: 3/25/2019 10:58:46 AMBungie should stop mixing PvE and PvP steps in the quests. Quest from start to end should be only PvE, or from start to the end only PvP. In this situation solo players will have no reason to go into Crucible (mostly).
-
The easiest way to fix the nightmare that Competitive has become is to get rid of the point loss in defeats. There is not enough people playing the game to support such a poorly made matchmaking. It's disgusting, really. Just give them 0 points when they lose the match, that's enough punishment for anyone. That way, MAYBE, people would play the damn mode instead of being frustrated on a daily basis. Do your DAMN JOB, Bungie. It's about time.

Do you know why we 6 stack? Because we get paired with fvcking brain dead blues that literally contribute absolutely fvcking nothing to the team. Try carrying 5 other players in every solo QP match. Look at my destiny tracker, look at my last 3 matches, that's why we stack. I don't want morons on my team every single match.
