I only own the stories I write, the characters I create, and of course my guardian. Now let's begin.[/i] A lone cryo chamber opened up and a woman in a lab coat fell out. She had no idea what year it was. She stood up and pushed her brown hair out of her face. She straightened her skirt and lab coat. She checked the timer on her cryo chamber and gasped, it's been hundreds of years since she and her fellow scientists went under! She ran around to the other chambers, all of her friends were dead! Everybody she knew was dead! She began to cry, reaching into her coat pocket she pulled out a picture. It was of her and a young man in another lab uniform. Blonde guy with black glasses. He was fairly built. Woman: Oh David, we never got to say goodbye. She heard loud footsteps coming from the hallway. Like something heavy was being dragged down the corridor. She stepped outside to see what it was. She came face to face with a cabal legionary. She looked up at the monster and screamed. She turned and ran as fast as she could, dropping her picture in the process. The Cabal stomped on it and gave chase. Malex touched down in the hellas basin and immediately dodged hive fire. He drew his iron and fanned off three shots. Three hive acolytes dropped dead on the ground. Malex reloaded The Last Word and holstered his gun. He radios Anna Bray. Malex: Anna, when are you gonna find some more quiet transmat zones ? Anna Bray: What? You can't deal with a little hive? Malex: It's not the hive I'm worried about. It's your elated ego that concerns me. Anna Bray: (chuckles) Yeah well I'm a gunslinger too ya know. I know you have an ego yourself. Malex: Oh can it would ya? What am I here for Anna? Anna Bray: Just a patrol. A cryo chamber opened up and I'd like it checked out. Sending the location to your ghost. Have fun guardian. Malex's ghost appeared. Peacemaker: So how do you like the new helmet? Malex fidgeted with his new Neoteric Kiyot Helmet Malex: It'll take some getting used to but I like it. Come on buddy let's go. Peacemaker disappeared into Malex's pack. Malex summoned his brand new sparrow. Peacemaker: I can't believe you saved up 2,500 bright dust for that. The Another Inspired Idea sparrow sat before him. Malex: What? I love this thing! Peacemaker: Malex if I had hands right now I'd facepalm. It's literally nothing but a rocket engine with a seat on it. Malex: I know, awesome right? Peacemaker: (sighs) Okay, I give up. Just get this thing moving. Malex shrugs and mounts up. He revs the engine and speeds off. The woman kept running. Cabal bullets whizzed past her as she ran. She must have been running for ten minutes. She turns the corner and runs into an unsuspecting guardian. She's knocked onto the ground. She gets up and turns to face the person she just ran into. Up stood a hunter in full Gambit Prime Invader armor. He had the title of dredgen, and the Thorn was by his side. Not knowing what a Dredgen is, heck, not even know what a guardian is, she clung to him. Woman: Oh please help me! I'm being chased by, by monsters! The Hunter pushed her off and drew his Thorn. Casually he turn the corner and walked down the hall towards the Cabal. The woman heard gunshots. Then suddenly, it was quiet. The hunter came back around the corner, his Thorn back at his hip. He was followed by a Titan in full Gambit Prime sentry armor, with a Malfeasance in his holster. He too, had the dredgen title. Titan: That her? Hunter: Yep Titan: Think she'll be able to build anything? Hunter: She was a Clovis Bray scientist before she went into that cryo tube Titan: So she'll build us Golden age tech huh? Nice The hunter turns to the woman Hunter: You're coming with us lady She'd never been more terrified in all her life. Malex walked through the corridors of Clovis Bray. Even though it has been centuries since Clovis Bray had actually operated, it still never ceased to amaze. Peacemaker: Guardian, we're coming up on the cryo chambers now. Turn in here Malex walked into the room Malex: Yep, there it is alright. I wonder why it opened up? Peacemaker: Beats me. Must have been a malfunction. Here let me...LOOK OUT!!! Malex spun around just in time to see a cabal psion leap at him. Malex grabbed him and threw him into the open cryo chamber. Malex: You need to chill out He kicked the closer button and the cryo chamber closed and froze the cabal psion. Peacemaker: Ugh Malex: What? Peacemaker: Really? "You need to chill out"? Is that really the best you got? Malex: Hey give me a break. It's not like I had much time to think about it Peacemaker: Dude, just shut up. Come on I don't see any problem here. We should... A blood-curling scream echoed throughout the halls Malex drew his gun Malex: What in the world was that!? Peacemaker: I don't know, but it originated north of us Malex: On it He took off running The Titan was struggling Hunter: Can't you keep her quiet? The woman was screaming and wriggling in the dark Titan's grasp Titan: Not if you want her in one piece Hunter: It doesn't matter. The others are up ahead They entered a large chamber were two warlocks were waiting. Both in Gambit Prime Collector armor. Both with a Malfeasance. Both were Dredgens. Warlock 1: Is this the scientist? Hunter: Yep Warlock 2: Splendid. We will begin the mind probe now Woman: Mind probe? Warlock 2: Yes indeed. You're going to build things for us Dr. (looks at record) Diane Cameron. We know you won't want to help us, so we are going to make you Warlock 1: (pulls out a sinister looking device) Now don't worry Dr. Cameron, this will most certainly hurt, a lot An explosive knife flies though the air and knocks the device out of his hands. Then explodes it. Warlock 1: What!? Malex: Now I don't think the lady here would appreciate that very much The four Dredgens turn to see Malex step into the chamber Malex: Now I was listening to that whole shindig going on and I can't say I approve The Hunter Dredgen stepped forward Hunter: So what, you gonna do something about it? (Puts hand on the hilt of Thorn) Malex: As a matter of fact I am (Puts hand on the hilt of The Last Word) Peacemaker: Guardian, around us. Putting it on the radar 10 Titan Dredgens in sentry armor all jumped down from the overhead catwalk. Each ready to draw their Malfeasance. Above them, still on the catwalk, sat six Hunter Dredgens in collector armor. Each chambered a round into their Whisper of the Worm sniper rifle. Malex knew he had to save Diane. But their was no way he could gun down all of them at once. Last Word only has eight rounds before it's reload time. He scanned the room for anything he could use. Then he had an idea. Malex: What did you say your name was? Hunter: They call me Dredgen Slayer on account of my numerous invasion kills. I have the most guardians defeated in gambit history! You sure you want to draw against me? Malex: Well I would be scared if it weren't for one thing Dredgen Slayer: And what might that be? Malex: I don't care Malex drew and fired He shot an explosive container that just so happened to be right behind them. It exploded. All of the Dredgens looked to the explosion which gave Malex all the time he needed. He jumped and rolled towards Diane, evading a few Whispers shots in the process. He dropped four Titans and both Warlocks then grabbed Diane. He half dragged half pulled her to cover. He thumbed off one last shot then ducked down to reload. Diane: May I ask who you are? Malex: Name's Malex, I'm a gunslinger and I'm here to help. (A bullet whizzes by) Just a moment please He jumps over the counter they were hiding behind and charged into the fray. Diane peeked over to see what was happening and was amazed at what he saw. The Dredgens he had just put down had been revived by their ghosts and were firing at him as fast as they could. Malex bobbed and weaved through the enemy fire then let them have it. He fanned off eight shots and eight Titans fell. He rolled to the right, evading more sniper fire, and speed loaded his gun. Six shots ended his sniper worries. One of the remaining Titans charged at him, but an explosive throwing knife to the head tends to stop titans in their tracks. Fifteen down, five to go. Dredgen Slayer stood, watching the gunfight unfold. He was measuring up the man who wielded his cannon's greatest foe. He backed up behind cover, he had a new plan to execute. Malex turned to meet the next Titan up, he ducked below a punch and came up with a knife he embedded into the back of the Dredgen's head. He turned and used the now dead Titan as a human shield for the incoming fire. He pushed the Titan off his blade and into one of the Warlocks, who fell on his back due to the weight. Malex threw the knife into that other Titans head and unloaded three shots into the other Warlock. Then he walked over to the Warlock pinned under the Titan. Warlock: Please sir, have mercy Malex: Hmm, let me think about that. Yeah, no. (Thumbs off a shot into the Warlock's head.) Diane leaps out from cover as Malex reloads The Last Word Diane: That was amazing! I've never seen anything like it! Malex: I know right!? (Malex noticed the ghost's of the Dredgens were hiding) Come on, let's get out of here. You have some catching up to do. Diane: Yeah I bet, WATCH OUT!!! Malex turned and fired at the same time Dredgen Slayer did. Slayer doubled over and Malex stood Malex: Boom! How's it feel to get out drawn Dredgen Slayer! Dredgen Slayer: (Heavy Breathing) I wasn't aiming at you Malex: What? (turns around to see Diane holding her gut. Blood stained her lab coat.) Oh no. No no no!
