27 fatalities carried out by a 28 year old man. This sick waste of space actually recorded himself committing the atrocity.
And yes before he opened fire, he actually said, and I quote, "sub to Pewdiepie."
What's more sickening is how the media is treating this matter. According to them it's violence and not terrorism. Unreal.

I'm locking this thread because a lot of answers are against CoC.

It sucks not being able to defend yourself. They should have armed security like the synagogues and Jewish schools have here in the States.

Society is messed up. Over the last ten years I’ve noticed a real rise in these extremist views. Maybe it’s the rise of social media or something I don’t know. But white supremacism has become normalised to an extent that it’s no longer shocking when someone says something completely racist. These disgusting views are everywhere. There are even users on this site that spout this garbage.

Edited by gizmonster: 3/15/2019 2:09:15 PMHis intent was to unfound us. In his manifesto, he intentionally was trying to demonize many aspects of our life by using it the wrong way. The 2nd amendment, memes, our media. He did all of this to break us and send us into chaos. While most acts of terrorism occur to prove a point, this was a deliberate attack on global culture. An attack on the left and the right, make no mistake. One with the attempt to DIVIDE US FURTHER racially and ideologically. We cannot fall victim to this, or it will only inspire others. Do not name him, do not talk about it, don’t let them have the publicity and even give others the opportunity to sympathize with them in the slightest. While the media needs to follow those principles, it’s the only thing we can do to help.

How do you guys/gals feel about this stuff appearing on facebook? I'm really anti-facebook for my own reasons but wtf, people even think... "Hey I can post this on facebook, live!" Not sure how to process that.
-
Wow, you mean one racist likes another racist like Pewdiepie? I'm shocked. Really.
-
Petition to put the shooter on a plane, fly him to Syria and hand him over to IS. All in favour say Aye. Aye.

Another shooting, another day. Not to devalue the awfulness of this situation, as it is sickening. But how many more of these will happen until people GET IT? Telling everyone the name, the death toll, who he killed, do you think it'll help? No, it won't. Then the aftermath, people blaming things he mentioned, like Pewdiepie, and by extension video games, is stupid. People aren't going to see the situation for what it is: A person who has no soul, trying to cause as much damage, philosophically, and physically. There going to see it as another hate crime, against another tribe of people, caused by the hierarchy of society, instead of calling out the insane way we spread and consume media. (Thoughts go out to the families, as no one knows what they must be going through after a horrific event like this.)
-
Pewds definitely is to blame here. *voxgasm intensifies*
-
Did he actually say sub 2 pewdiepie?
-
An excellent example of how strict gun laws stop shootings
-
This guy said many things to get the media to say polarizing shit. To the culture war combatants: lay down your arms, you’re giving this man who is lower than the dirt on which we stand exactly what he wants.
What's more sickening is how the media is treating this matter. According to them it's violence and not terrorism. Unreal.
I haven't seen one new media outlet NOT call it terrorism. Not sure what you're reading/watching.

Edited by blade329: 3/15/2019 6:17:43 PMA crazy psychopath.
What's more sickening is how the media is treating this matter. According to them it's violence and not terrorism.
Depends what news outlet you are looking at. Everyone skews the news to fit what they want it to.

Edited by Flynn: 3/15/2019 4:50:58 PMThey're calling it a terrorist attack, as they should. Dude even admits to it in his manifesto. I saw the video of the whole thing and it's incredibly disturbing. I really wish I hadn't, tbh.

The shooters manifesto praised Donald J. Trump for being a... "Symbol of Renewed White Identity". I am white and I categorically and vehemently reject this. Also, if someone in NZ could go find Fraser Anning and kick him in the balls as hard as possible that would be great.

There was 4 shooters wasn't there? I know that 1 guy who live streamed it got arrested

Situation’s absolutely sickening. Hitting close to home for us Australians knowing that such a vile & disgusting act could be carried out by one of our own & in our neighbouring country which we usually regard as pretty safe. But as usual our media just has indirectly glorify the monster who did this & spread his name & face, while those who suffered as a result of his actions will be forgotten, nothing more than a statistic. One of our politicians also saw this tragedy as an opportunity to spread hatred & an us & them mentality, where empathy & unity is sorely needed. -blam!- him for using the deaths of 50+ human beings as a soapbox for his hate & apathy. Politics aside, my deepest condolences to those effected by this tragedy. Hopefully one day, we’re able to get over our differences & truly co-exist with one another.

Damn ;-;
-
Heard about this on the way to work. 49 deaths, 48 injured. And they called it an act of terrorism several times.
-
Saw it. It’s messed up streaming it. As well as it’s clearly an act of racism. Then he goes around gunning people from the streets and his car... [Dark] - Still, I never like religions. Sitting down, completely exposed to situations like this. In a group of people clearly makes it a target. - Gun laws in New Zealand? Not entirely sure. Definitely doesn’t happen in Australia, you get stabbings, machetes, robbing a petrol station with a hammer or just “one punch” can kill in the streets. Rarely Gun problems since it was banned.

Edited by AdligerAdler: 3/15/2019 2:00:52 PMFake news. Has already been proven.

Edited by indigo_rhodes: 3/15/2019 1:26:40 PMMan, that’s literally the worst. I do not even know what to say. My original response doesn’t cut it.

It's honestly sickening... He took memes too far, and good knows that them, video games, and Pewds are getting the brunt of it. I would rant further, but I just did so on Twitter, so...
-
And people are blaming pewdiepie as well... I just hope that the people whose lives were affected will see some mercy and grace in all of this. Somehow.
