So I had an idea of how to make pinnacle rewards more accessible, and increase comp participation.
To preface this, I have my Luna’s, I got it the first season it was available, I got to 2400 last season and I’m already over 1500 this season. MOSTLY solo. So this is not me trying to make it easier for myself.
Here is my idea,
Each season, IF a new pinnacle weapon is introduced at the same glory rank tier, the previous seasons pinnacle weapon rank requirement is reduced to the next tier
( from fabled to heroic to brave) and an additional quest step is added,
This would continue each season,
So right now Luna’s howl would require brave rank, but two additional quest steps.
Mountaintop would require heroic, and a new quest step.
Not forgotten would remain at 5500 because no new 5500 weapons have been released.

For PvP pinnacle weapons they should have 2 avenues. If you want it fast, you get to 2100 in Comp. If you want it but don't mind taking a slow burn, reset Valor 3 times in a season. Keep NF at comp Legend cause that's pretty much the only reason to stay in that hell pit. This is strikes me as odd. Why are PvP pinnacle weapons locked to Comp, but Vanguard pinnacle weapons don't require any pinnacle activities like Raids etc.. same with Gambit. Not to mention, why are PvP pinnacle weapons absolutely boss in all content? Redrix is phenomenal in pve, as is Luna and the Recluse is pretty much kill clip all the time. These are killer pve weapons too. The vanguard guns are gimmick crap. Ya another gun with Firefly... Bungie, Firefly sucks in this game... Stop pushing it so much. Not even Sunshot could save Firefly.

I would go a step further and remove the glory rank from luna and just have the other quest steps the same. This would entice more people to play comp. The gun has been out a while now so how can it hurt anyone. I grinded for weeks to get mine as I am an average player. It would not diminish the effort or the joy of finally getting it to make it easier to obtain for others. Has having it made me above average player now, no. Leave NF as is so that the top players can have their glory. Next season mountain top should also remove the glory rank and the season after recluse. This makes it so that the guns are available at some stage to all. If you want it now then you have to get the glory rank. The outcome would increase player numbers significantly and there would be heaps of us shit players for all you gods to slaughter while we all get the reward.

Edited by TitanKay: 3/14/2019 3:19:02 AMNot a bad ideas. I personally think that glory rank should not completely reset. U should get a set bonus depending on what rank u reach in the previous season. For example, if u range fable, aka 2100 point previously, u get 1050 to start. That way anyone who just start play comp will have a fighting chance. It is not competitive when a team of NF/LH clean up a bunch of low rank random with non meta weapon when new season start. Edit: disclaimer, I have Luna

Edited by Sweet Lew 88: 3/14/2019 12:11:29 AMNot a bad idea, but I think it would cheapen the experience (by making it easier). I think they will have a "broadsword" style quest for these pinnacle weapons for next fall or so.

Bungie already halved the effective score needed

Upvote. Would make comp 100% more rewarding immediately and people would likely feel like they could compete more quickly.

Keep everything how it is lol. Everyone wants hand outs, It’s a PINNACLE weapon everyone isn’t meant to have it. You want it that bad? Team up with people an get it, simple.
-
Then it would be deameaning for players who got there lunas in season 4
-
I think that could be a good idea, but only if it went down a subtier. Like going from Fabled I required to Heroic III with a new season refresh. I don’t want absolutely everyone running rampant with Luna’s and a Mountaintop

comp pinnacle rewards are too op, one class is remarkebly too op, ie huntard. nerf huntard more, make the nf, lh and new smg less overpowered and we all set.
-
i like the system now, i just wish they would add another weapon to get at legend. Once i get not forgotten this season i won’t feel the need to go to legend ever again except for if i want the dumb title.

Bungie needs to do major QoL changes to make it more attractive. But let's be honest for a second, the comp is comprised of players themselves so we can't all lay blame on Bungie. We as players have accountability too. KD discrimination, some want to win at all cost (even cheating), and any attempts to make it more attractive to players are deemed "casualization", "the end of destiny", or "ruin PVP" (Everyone having same guns doesn't ruin PVP most PVP games have the same guns, what ruins PVP is low population). The most basic question everyone is asking themselves is: Why should I play comp right now? A lot of players wanted the feeling of exclusivity. Well, it's kind of exactly what comp is right now (especially on PC). A very small pool of players with the same guns, playing with the same teams over and over. In a way, people got exactly what they wished for. It's like asking "come play with us and earn these guns". Most would probably answer "why?". They drop a god rolled Bygones or get the Perdition, they can battle with the best HC's as long as they stay around the 60 meter range and do it from the comfort of quick play. For close quarters there's shotguns everywhere and anyone can get the Chaperone. TLW is ridiculously forgiving. Not to mention AoS is like a scout masquerading as a HC. Don't get me wrong, not saying to make item quests like daily bounties. But at some point people are going to weigh the carrot against the stick. And comp is a reflection of how many people value the carrot over the stick. And remember, before anyone judges how they value said carrot, remember that we're talking about a bunch of pixels firing better pixel bullets than most other pixels. Not a purple belt in Jiujitsu, or a masters degree.

They don't need to make it easier

Personally, most the quests seem fine where they are at, except the Mountaintop quest (That quest is insanely tedious and soul shattering). As far as the weapons go, a couple could use a buff (Like oxygen or maybe 21% delirium), but most are good and even better than what they are given credit for. But at the end of the day, the weapons are called "Pinnacle" for a reason. They are supposed to be challenging for your every day player, not easy, and if everyone had the weapons, Bungie and the rest of the community would be looking at a D1 Y1 PVE/PVP rework again.

From my point of view the problem with the quest is forcing final blows in a team match. If I could earn those kills in rumble I think it a different story. I don't understand why so many (all?) of the quests for these weapons require final blows in team match ups. It forces the players to work against each other, or gimp themselves in an effort to complete the quests. I'm on the part to get final blows with hand cannons in comp. I'm always bottom of the list and if I'm lucky I get 2-3 kills a match (unless its countdown or survival). It makes comp an uphill climb, me useless to my team, my team useless to me (ksers), and the experience is bad. Comp should be for playing my best with people also playing their best for the win, not to complete quests.

If a system like this we’re to be put in then the quest steps would have to be reset every season at the end. Also the huge influx of people who didn’t actually earn a gun that’s already too easy to get would ruin pvp.

Edited by N8dawg2022: 3/11/2019 4:01:25 AMYikes imagine LITERALLY everyone having Luna’s 😳 dude it would destroy crucible more than Luna’s already has. Edit : spell correct
