Can you guys stop trying so hard to make the players fit the game and instead try to make the game fit the players? There’s a wide variety of different activities, and not just PvE and PvP, but within those archetypes. Why is everything so rigid when it doesn’t have to be? Please stop trying to force feed the entire experience to everyone and expect them to like it. It’s unrealistic.

Yes, a wide variety. Within PvE: Story missions/adventures Patrol, which includes public events Strikes Escalation Protocol and Blind Well The DC has its own content with Ascendant Challenges and Shattered Throne PvP doesn’t have as much because Trials is MIA but there are several game types to choose from and Iron Banner still makes its appearances. Then there’s also Gambit. PvE activities are worlds apart from PvP activities in terms of taste and player preference. Even within PvE something like doing story missions or patrolling is worlds apart from raids in terms of player taste and preference. I don’t know what fantasy world they live in where they think everyone enjoys ALL of these very different activities. If they continue to try to force the entire experience on everyone it will drive many players to other games and they will only be elect with a handful of hardcore players and streamers. I don’t think that’s an efficient means to sustain a game. I think players would just appreciate options. Multiple avenues of completion for loot so that can people play what they LIKE as a path of pursuit. I don’t know why they seem so against it. If they would create larger worlds with more varied activities that people gravitated to because they were fun and engaging instead of throwing everyone into these closed fireteams activities where they say “play it EXACTLY like this” and “everyone do this exact same thing for this piece of gear”, I think the game would benefit for it.

  • So off topic a bit but just indulge me here, am I the only one who gets a sense or feeling of the old bungie lately from the creators?

  • They've got serious fantasies of being relevant on the PvP scene. They know their player base is a primarily PvE crowd. Ratcheting up their focus on Gambit is their way of trying to trick them into being a PvP crowd so that if the rumors about them dry humping PvPvE in D3 are true then fewer of their dwindling base of customers will abandon them.

  • I agree. They've gone way off the deep end trying to massage the PVP focused players. Those of us who want improved and additional PVE content get shafted every time. Exotic weapons quests that are focused mainly on PVP content are a great example. I've got them all just sitting in my inventory because I refuse to spend hours forced into PVP to earn them. A Gambit focused season is the last thing I want. PVE focused players pay as much as a PVP focused players, so they shoudl respect that and new content should be equally divided. But, they have proven they really don't care about the PVE focused players over and over again. I've hung on but I've started playing much much less.

  • I liken it to going to an all you can eat buffet and being on a diet. I just want to eat the salad bar, but I'm not really wanting to pay the full price and have to sit there and watch the other people enjoy the prime rib station. If the game was more built around playing what you want instead of being forced (and yes uber -godwinslaw!-, we know we're not actually forced to play but thanks for pointing it out every time someone uses the word) to do everything to feel like you get the full experience, we'd have so much less discontent around here.

  • You're 100% correct. However we've been trying to send that message to Bungie since 2014 to no avail. It's like they make this game just for their own amusement and we are just their crowdfunding contributors who payed for the honor to play the game they made only for themselves.
