1 ReplyI see trucker/farmer hats all the time here in Murica. Also the occasional cowboy hat. I've only seen one fedora out in the wild and the kid wearing it was as terrifying to behold as the memes foretold.

Cultural shifts and different fashion trends over the decades. Men still wear hats, but they’re now relighted to much more casual attire because hats that compliment suits, button down shirts, and slacks aren’t all that necessary anymore due to their use being prominently indoors.

1 ReplyHats saw a decline in use with the increase in cars. Previously, people traveled predominantly outside, either walking, riding a horse, or in a wagon or carriage. When cars became predominant in the 20's, people were spending less time in the sun and hats became largely unnecessary. Of course, people didn't change their habits overnight and hats were still worn throughout the 30's and 40's, however their usage was in decline.
