While I really do appreciate the recent load out changes that brought shotguns and such back into the game as viable options, I can’t help but feel the immense skill gap crushing effect that every new shotgun has brought. As I’m sure you all have noticed every new shotgun is fully automatic, and that entirely defeats the purpose of a shotgun. I choose not to play with shotguns because it’s not fun to me, but because my enemies no longer have to put in the simplest level of ability to acquire a shotgun kill from ever increasing distances i can’t help but feel like there’s no skill required in crucible anymore. I can’t compete in any way with people who, to my perception, kill me instantly from any range less than 25 yards. Sidearms- unusable at that range against instant death, sniper rifles- can’t sustain it because if I’m using it right the ammo drops 30 yards away in the middle of shotgunning enemies, fusion rifles- just a shotgun with an extra second before it shoots. I’m being crunches into playing a meta that doesn’t work at all for me, and watching the killes be around 60% shotguns is really depressing for someone who likes any form of veriety or fun gameplay. Maps in D2 were designed with double primary in mind and with shotguns as a rarity, but not every time I see a blip in my radar and I’m anywhere near a soft line blocker I can assume with great certainty I’m about to die in less than the blink of an eye. If anything shotguns should stay, like I said veriety is great but these shotguns are breaking their own purpose because you don’t even need the skill to hit good body shots anymore.
