So I say Ringer’s post about the moon, and that made me think about the Dreadnought and the Taken on it. So with the Red War, we just never went back to the Dreadnought. Makes sense, since the Cabal kept us busy and then Xol and Nokris and Uldren, but it doesn’t appear that we kept any tabs on the Dreadnought, which is bad for many reasons.
The first is that we barely explored it in D1. There are probably countless Hive abominations and Taken Norris in its depths. With Oryx gone, they’ve been able to do whatever they wanted, unchallenged. And then with the Red War, they’ve been able to regain complete control of it.
The second is that the Dreadnought is still a super weapon. All we did was disable, not destroy, its main weapon. Without us there keeping the Hive and Taken from gaining control, they’ve had a massive opportunity to repair said weapon.
The third is the power hole we left on it. We did not replace Oryx, leaving a power vacuum in the Dreadnought. Any Hive could have taken (pun intended) it. Even Savathun could have filled it. The Dreadnought just has stores of food for any worms hunger, so that the bearer can become immensely more powerful.
If you disagree with any points or want to add any points, they are more than welcome

Considering said weapon would be rendered useless with Oryx’s demise due to the collapse of his Throne World, I wouldn’t be worried about that. Thankfully the other two known dangers are already neutralised. Willbreaker’s core was taken by Guardians and turned into three exotic swords, and the tablets of ruin have been rendered obsolete by Quria. The main threat I see is that the Dreadnaught not only has a massive prison full of Hive, it’s also the perfect hidden staging ground.

Super weapon has been destroyed, it was oryx pushing his throne world into reality and oryx is dead so
-
I would say that we did destroy the super weapon since we killed Oryx. He was the only being capable of activating it as it was his throne world being pushed into reality.
-
Ive said it before and Ill say it again, when the darkness enters our system, we mount a strike, line the dreadnaught with war sats, and position it as a meat sheild between us and them while we mount a counteroffensive
-
We need Oryx’s throne world to use the weapon. When he used it he shot his throne world out into reality.

I’m sure by now savathun has sent at least some probes to the dreadnought to learn it secrets or sent larger forces to use it as another base of operations. The taken on the dreadnaught-if they were taken by oryx-are likely dead. Taken don’t have a very long lifespan, we don’t have exact timelines but especially if they were still on the dreadnought they probably wouldn’t last long. Hive-similar to the taken, the remaining hive of Oryx’s brood have likely died. They would have no leader and little purpose on the dreadnought. The sky burners would have also left if they had any forces left on the dreadnought to join the red legion.

I said it once and I'll say it a million times, Oryx's brood died out without anyone taking the throne. My theory that the Hive on Titan are making a war moon out of the place to launch a full scale invasion on the Dreadnought still stands

Don't Hive have to feed their worm by killing or the worm consumes them. Who would they be killing?, eachother. This statement though opens a huge can of worms ( no pun intended ). How was there hive in the prison of elders and how were they still alive to attack us without being consumed by their worm. Bungo dumb ass writers, no consistency

Hope it comes back, miss it, but hope it has new areas.
