LfD - Owl Sector/Transmission Crisis

Welcome! LfD, or Lore for Dummies, is meant to be an easy to comprehend, understandable guide for those willing to dive deeper into the Destiny universe. Sorry for the delay (and the second delay), I won’t make up any excuses. Well, besides all the valid ones, like homework and a lack of sleep. Anyways... Today, we will be diving into something a little less discussed, a little more obscure, as I have not seen this topic widely discussed on these forums. However, these... occasions are just as real as to the Guardians as they are to Oryx! We will first be going over Owl Sector, then going through the transmissions. Note that all the transmissions are cured after a while, just know that the Owl Sector is always extremely stressed out when a crisis happens. If you want to find out why, get on that Ishtar Collective! Owl Sector The Owl Sector is a sort of normal-people foundation, or a group willing to help the Vanguard and Guardians. They would research Golden Age stuff, and eventually cure the Transmission Crisis. I won’t go into names (because who really cares?) unless they are apart of the whole thing. Fun fact: Apparently on Bungie.net, there was once a part named Owl Sector. The Transmission Crisis Okay, this Transmission Crisis was quite the spectacle when it first broke out. Everyone started showing symptoms of all sorts of crazy things, like increased aggression, levitation, and compulsive dancing. A quarantine was set on these Guardians obviously, and the Owl Sector was tasked with curing this whole outbreak. The crisis itself comes from a group of these little futuristic mites, developed by Clovis Bray, in order to improve stamina, strength, and a bunch of other things. However, the side effects much outweighed the good part, hence the compulsive dancing. These mites were developed on Mars, in the Dust Palace. Each mite had a specific category, as most of then had different effects. The list goes as follows: Brilliance 3.2, Glory 2.1, Splendor 2.6, Magnificence 2.0, and Fortitude 3.1. Brilliance 3.2: This made you extremely happy, with compulsive dancing. Too happy. Glory 2.1: From what I could find, this was a variant of Brilliance, where everyone was happy, there was dancing, and happiness everywhere! A reminder that these symptoms do come from the same groups of mites, so similarities are still possible. The point of this grimoire was mainly backstory on the mite itself. Splendor 2.6: Splendor would cause the subject to glow or look yellow on their armor, on top of giving them a little “pep in their step”. By that I mean they are stronger. However, side effects include: increased aggression, and a potential lethal cause. Not something you would want in a god slayer. Magnificence 2.0: My personal favorite, this was a blue variant of the mite that would enhance everything, like the others. But, side effects included levitation, blue “bugs” swarming the patient. Dumbass Clovis Bray. Pardon me, did I say that out loud? Fortitude 3.1: Causes flickering vision, along with a list of the other symptoms, except for the blue variant. Pretty much all the notes are the same, the cases just list different side effects. And there you have it. These mites were created by Clovis Bray to enhance the normal human, which failed. And created this. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Sorry for such a long delay, again. Also let me know what you all would actually like to read about, and I’ll get on it as soon as I can. It’s not like I don’t enjoy making these, I just have some... dedication issues. I’ll try to get back on that “1 a week” deal.
