Alright so not tryna be negative towards the artists who work very hard on this game, but I gotta say the Warlock armor for the most part in D2 is severely lacking.
There are absolutely some bright spots as I love the reverie dawn and raid sets as well as the black armory armor, however, there is one thing in common with every single armor set that always disappoints me and it’s the BONDS. (Also that there’s always a large patch of brown on seemingly every armor set that does not change colors with shaders pls bungie)
Hunters get dope ass choices for capes with large creative decorations, Titan’s have sashes with tears and colors in it to show its use and character, and Warlocks best bonds are a rubber band with a nightlight on it.
The class item to me is all about style with the added bonus of some perks and most of the warlock bonds are some sort of armband with a pattern that you can’t see unless you zoom in and the others are some sort of holographic design that you can also barely see.
It just feels like Titans and Hunters get the priority on design and then they remember Warlocks exist lmao, there’s so much potential with bonds you can make a taken one that flows down my whole arm or some feckin wings or like lava to represent the forge fires BE CREATIVE TAKE RISKS!

Give Warlocks a Scarf instead, and make it move/flow. The Armband idea is just bad, and my guess is it's disliked by 100% of the player base that main Warlocks.

Edited by SnakePayne86: 1/13/2019 10:59:34 PMYa, most bonds look stupid. The gambit one for example, it’s a -blam!-ing bird. That’s all they could come up with is a glowing bird? Whoever thought of that shit needs to be handed their walking papers.
-
I wish they'd bring back the hologram bonds from D1...
-
The real tragedy is that Vesper of Radius has the coolest looking ornament, but has the crappiest exotic perk. What warlocks really need is not crappy looking bonds, but magical effects to demonstrate that they are space wizards. Like with the Vesper ornament.

I would like something that stood out enough to where you can see it and recognize it from a distance. My wife is a hunter and I can always tell which cloak she has equipped. Titan I don’t know and don’t look at. I really liked my Dead Orbit one that was a projection of the logo. Too bad it doesn’t have perks like current ones.

Edited by Guardian6765: 1/12/2019 2:18:37 AMPersonally I think the bonds are currently the best part of all the armor for any of the classes. Can't take down the hood on the capes and who the Hell wants a hand towel hanging from their waste all day? The bonds are a nice, simple accent piece that can either be hidden with the proper choice of shader (most of the time) or can stand out like a flashy piece of jewelry (my preference) with the proper choice of shader. If I want to see it, I can. If I don't want to see it, I don't have to. Can't say the same about the other classes. We all have our opinions, that is nothing more than mine. It doesn't mean I am any more correct than the op. :)

Ay loving all the responses to this haha I was just throwing it out there and it's nice to see people share the same opinion. I exclusively use the ancient apocalypse bond with the giant hawk and I would love to see more extravagant decorative bonds embracing all of the magic and craziness warlocks have to offer, the new obsidian ascendance design on the black armory weapons comes to mind specifically. Some new class items would be great for all classes too like cloaks or scarfs or just ornaments for existing armor I think it would be dope for Bungie to change up the formula (especially now that Activision is out of the picture) and embrace the talented artists they have. Again, not trying to belittle the work put into this game, I care about it and want it to be the best it can be!

Edited by Zeldafan92: 1/12/2019 1:46:32 AMWe need more flair in all the class items, not just warlocks. You look generally from D1 to D2 there is noticeable decline in quality and craftsmanship in the armor and especially the class items. So if you're listening Bungie tell the design team for the armor to have a little more pride in your work and not to keep half assing the gear anymore, cause you made better before, and if you can't get it out of the design team, find someone who can...
-
Be grateful you have powerful exotics and superb super abilities. I’d rather my Titan look like shit and have good abilities than have good looking armor and shitty abilities
-
I've always felt my warlock got tossed into a fancy dressing rode, and got given a class item that is practically invisible 95% of the time. The New Monarchy set was my go-to, but that's stuck in Y1...with my warlock.
-
A lot of the bonds the speaker sold in yr1 were great! Would love to see more holographs. The gambit bond is a step in the right direction, as is the cayde bond. But I agree, we need more.
-
I liked the old trials bond with an ornament a lot. Don’t honestly remember any other bond in d2 but the earlier bond unlocked through Eros morn way back in the dark below was a fantastic looking bond of green fire
-
Hunters should have hoods/ponchoes and warlocks get Dr strange style capes
-
I almost started a thread for this today myself (glad I found yours). Warlock bonds are garbage. Titans get their mark, which is a cool skirt thing. Hunters get capes, capes are self-explanatory in their awesomeness. Warlocks get...an armband? And not only an armband, but one that changes your appearance very little. It's not a huge deal, but I'd definitely enjoy a change in Warlock cosmetics; the best you could do for the class item of the "magic user" is a bracelet on our arms?
-
Warlock bonds (in general) look very poor in comparison to some from D1. The other class items aren’t great either though. Too many terrible codpiece Titan marks and most Hunter cloaks look terrible.
-
This has been a major gripe since D1, I feel like they came up with class items for the other classes and went 'what are we gonna do with them?' All I want is some interesting and noticeable designs, have some ribbons flowing down from the band or something
-
Oh yea bonds are very bland in D2. I'm not sure what happened. They seemed bigger and more noticeable in D1. All the raid bonds looked so crazy.
-
I really think warlocks coats should be their class items. Imagine dope trench coats, cool biker jackets, or even winter coats with fur hoods. Those would be way cooler than friendship bracelets.
-
Did you just say Hunters get dope ass choices? Warlocks look waaaay better in comparison.
-
My all time favorite warlock band was the flaming Iron Banner one. Back in the days when Iron Banner was really fun to play.
-
Warlocks should get pointy wizard hats.
-
d2 bonds are not as good as d1
-
Yeah but hunters only have 1 acceptable cloak now. Vanguard Dare.
-
Now this I agree with. Gambit bird is always on my arm cause the others are boring.
-
Could go for a scarf. Maybe a single handed glove. If going with arm band, make it the length of the sleeve and take up some of the shoulder.
-
can we talk about how the shoulder pads are a part of the chest piece now and not the gloves??? Making it even harder to mix n match different sets???
