Niobe Labs puzzle is dumb.
Sooooooo does anyone else find this Niobe labs puzzle thing kinda dumb? Why does bungie think we want to watch streamers figure out a puzzle?

The puzzle solving involves way to much trial and error and not logical thought. Having to play through all levels again, before the next trial must be frustrating.

It has become an annoyance because they've done this on purpose just to spite the casual gamer. It's bland and it caters to streamers. I'm just ready for the game to have run it's cycle so we can be finished with it. I'm honestly bored.

5 RepliesMaybe I'm old, but I really don't get this Twitch business model... Bungie ENCOURAGES people to watch the game on Twitch instead of actually playing it? How does that translate to money to Bungie? Yeah, I get that it's supposed to be advertising and "everybody will want to play the game that's hot on Twitch"... but do they really? It's already been discussed that people watching playthroughs of story-based games actually translates [u]negatively[/u] to their sales. If you've already seen someone play through a game like Firewatch, there's basically zero reason to buy and play it yourself. Action titles are not quite the same... but if the audience starts feeling "this is cool to watch, but I could never get good enough to pull it off myself" -- how does that translate to game sales? If you overpromote the Twitch and eSports angle, I think you will end up with a dwindling base of actual players and a growing base of spectators -- with very immature monetization models for the spectators. It's like letting people in to see the baseball game for free and then hoping they go buy your bat and glove on their way home.

I don’t understand the hate on streamers. They are not the only smart ones or ones with time on their hands. People just like you and I have been putting their heads together as a community to figure our raids and secrets like outbreak prime and destiny 1’s sleeper simulant. You guys give streamers too much credit. They’re human just like you. ;)

At this point, I don't even blame streamers for this happening, I don't see how anyone could want anything like this.

Seems clear at this point the clues weren't as intuitive as Bungie thought. It was painful watching Datto go through the levels just to try a seemingly random word and have to start all over. Ugh.

1 ReplyIt was cool up until the 6th puzzle. Like the 3D map was interesting, but the gem clue makes no sense to me when compared to what the solution is. I have no idea how anyone came to that conclusion.

He'll write about how the streamers tackled Niobe Labs for the sake of all of us and metaphorically suck the dick of whichever streamer ends up solving it. They need to admit that this event is a failure. I've been saying for awhile that Bungie doesn't know what middle ground is. This event pretty much proves it. It's designed specifically in mind for those of play this game for a living. Why else would it need to be so complex?
