I picked up the bow on Wednesday, and after playing around with it for a while, something about it seems immediately off: the poison DOT effect when enemies are hit doesn’t always activate when bow is fully pulled back. The dragonfly-like effect from precision shot kills, and its resulting poison cloud, also doesn’t seem to activate consistently as well. This is probably why people are saying it isn’t that great. It would be a much more enjoyable weapon if the effects would activate consistently instead of randomly.
If this is a genuine bug, remedy this soon please. If not, then please rework it; this has potential to be a really fun weapon.
EDIT: Many of you have been commenting that I am either not using the bow properly or unaware that of the perfect shot. I want to mention that I am aware of the perfect shot via its audio cue (the cue being it makes the bow sound similar to an actual gun (almost like malfeasance) than a bow). Also, in Patrick Casey’s review of the bow, he makes a comment about the inconsistent poison effect being applied. the video in question: https://youtu.be/x_LxhlyOURY

I know you said you know about perfect shot but consider latency is never perfect, a second too early it won't happen and even after that audio cue it lasts a very short time. You have to fire almost immediately after that full pull back or it goes away. The timing is much harder than say shoulder charge or handheld supernova activation period. People just aren't used to needing this good of timing. It's like a perfect active reload in Gears of War.
