Fusion Rifles as a weapon type can do more damage than shotguns, But shotguns will always have more DPS. Less than 3 secs to dump 10 shots with a good full auto shotty. 12-15 secs to dump 10 shots with a fusion. Even with keeping Merciless fully spun up (if you have a titan or warlock for auto reload) it’s still 2,000 damage less than EP. I’m not sure if crit damage is the answer or not. But something definitely needs to be done. I think crit could be good. It wouldn’t be any more broken than The Chaperone lol I’d like to see Fusions have more abilities to do status effect damage like Grenade Launchers can. Like a pinnacle roll arc fusion would do chain lightning, a god roll solar would cause burn damage, a god roll void could cause chain explosions. Add that with the ability to roll surrounded and feeding frenzy, now you’ve suddenly got Ikelos-level Fusion Rifles. Merciless and Telesto are cool. But, with the ammo economy and the actual DPS time... I’ll never equip them over an exotic heavy in PvE, except to complete a bounty. I don’t need an exotic to clear red bars.
