So a lot of people are throwing out that they will abandon D2 for anthem when it comes out.
That's great... Are you antisocial? because this Gaming Rag says you won't have as much fun unless you're in a group... a rag is a rag, but I knew the similarities would start showing up.
Still might play it.

I like having the option to matchmake solo or with a fire team. Sounds like you won’t be locked out of game content playing solo. Who wants to buy a game you can’t play Cough D2 cough.

Solo or grouped up, I'm a juggernaut of fun. Nothing stops me.

Can’t wait https://yourcountdown.to/anthem

Edited by Barvald: 12/23/2018 7:51:56 PMI played The Division and Destiny 1 almost entirely solo, and still enjoyed them quite a lot. Online games are inherently better with friends, but a good game is a good game whether you're playing solo or co-op. At least Anthem will have the option for solo players to matchmake into [supposedly] all content, and the only content that will absolutely require a team are the Strongholds (which are akin to endgame dungeons or raids). I'm still excited for the game, even as a mostly solo player.
-
Articles wrong, while there are advantages for playing as a group you can still play through everything except the strongholds solo, and even then they have matchmaking.
-
They have in game matchmaking for everything. Granted, it might not go down well with randos, but randoms get to experience all aspects of the game. And you can always get a dedicated fire team together if you desire. I feel it's a win for solo players.

Anthem has EA cancer painted on it so.... no thanks on any content from them.
-
Just because it is not as rewarding does not mean it will be any less fun or possible to do. If anything, I'll happily put in the extra effort because this game will not a chore like Destiny 2.

In all honesty, I find any game that I can play with my friends, way for fun than solo. I love the social aspect of it. I would much rather have a game where it's more fun with people than solo. Take wildlands for an example. It was touted as squad up and take down the objective. That game played better solo, because usually someone in my team would trip an alarm etc. It doesn't surprise me that Anthem would be more fun and rewarding playing as a group, nor do I think that is bad.
-
I mean it is designed to be a shared world co-op game like Destiny. So it’s hardly surprising that it would be a better game when played that way. I personally much prefer single player, story driven games so I knew Anthem probably wouldn’t be for me. I might (possibly) get it and play through the campaign solo but I’m pretty much done with these sorts of grindy online games that demand huge time investments from players. Destiny sucked me in for a few years but ultimately I find them unsatisfying and a little exploitative. So I tend to steer clear of them these days. I’m looking forward to the next Dragon Age more than Anthem. I just hope they keep it as a single player story focused experience like the previous ones.

No, duh. It's an online game. I am pretty sure they said you can do stuff solo, but the game is made for groups in mind. There is matchmaking, so that is a bonus.
-
Which I find disappointing. They should've made teaming up a bonus, not the focus, imo. This isn't an MMO where there's entire economies, massive amounts of content, and in-depth player-to-player interaction. Add on top of it all that it's online-only, that just means the game gets killed the day it stops making EA money. Why would I drop 60+ dollars on a game with a limited lifespan? What really pisses me off is it looks great. It looks fun. But I'm not interested in an online only game that I can only play for as long as they want to keep it alive. All that money, time, effort, gear, all gone when they kill the game one day. There was no logical reason to make this online-only. There's plenty of games that make great SP experiences with additional online cooperative support, so it's not like they didn't have a choice. Sick of "shared world" games, honestly. They all lack depth the further you get in the game.
-
I'm sure there will be some LFGs or other such things dedicated for Anthem players to get together once the game is out. So, even if playing solo won't feel as rewarding, I'm sure there will be options to get around that.
-
Just happy they are concentrating on PVE only. Hopefully it will be a deeper & better game for it. Not that PvP is a bad thing. It just doesn’t need to be in every new game released.
