Chapter 3: Ragna Period
Unit 1: Unforeseen Consequences
Plasmatica is the lifeblood of the galactic imperium. Everything from the massive Quadrax Warp Relay to the stove in your kitchen is powered by plasmatica. Even that which is too old, to engrained in electronic power from the 22nd century and before, gains it's electricity from plasmatica generators.
It is widely agreed upon that Plasmatica was invented in the late 22nd century, although it was only widely developed into what is now know as Plasmatica-Tech in the early 24th Century by the Arcturius Corporation.*
This name is hopefully familiar; They were responsible for the Plasmatica Wars, formally taking place between 2645 and 2667.
The effects of these wars was felt for a century after however, as the Ragna Period began in the year 2671 and ended standard year 2770.
There remains some contention how the period started, but the official statement from Arcturius Corp. was a group of rogue scientists broke into the facilities hiding the only known instructions for producing plasmatica, and were killed in the ensuing sabotage.
Without the secrets to create new plasmatica, the First Galactic Imperium, known as The Primedon Civilization, quickly dissolved into chaos. Warp Relays were deactivated, and the now-corrupt government struggled for control of the remaining plasmatica silos against thousands of bands of outlaws.
Luckily, an alternative to plasmatica creation was found in The Teltronians, allowing a more pure Galactic Imperium - the Primaros Civilization - to rise in the place of the Primedon. but this chapter will go over the extensive effects the Ragma Period had on the course of galactic history.
*There is still some contention on plasmatica's initial development, with some historians claiming some blueprints for Plasmatica Powered Mechs recovered during the Ragna Period date back as far as the early 21st century. The claims however, are mostly unsubstantiated.
