Ok, sit down because the post is gonna be really long, I want to be 100% clear on what I'm talking about, I want to precise that I'm talking mainly for the console version, on PC because how fast you can react with a mouse, things could be kinda different.
I'll leave a space when I'll suggest the fix so that if you're not interested on my motivations you can just skip over my suggestions.
I remember back in the days when Snipers were being nerfed, 99% of feedback, even from "bigs" of our community like TrueVanguard, was the Bad feeling it used to give when you were for example with your Hand Cannon, ready to 3 tap your opponent, first two shot, his shields broke, and when you were about to shot your final bullet, you get quickscoped in the head, that was surely frustrating at times.
But now we need to admit that snipers aren't a thing now, and even with the damage buff they talked about, we already know that it wouldn't be enough to bring back into the meta, and they said that bringing back the old flinch is not a thing, so I've come up with two suggestions, my mainly focus on that is to give some really good snipers a chance to hit their shot against opponents that starts to flinch them.
Let's be honest right now, for base logics when shotguns are the best close quarters combat sniper should be at long ranges, in fact they should, but they aren't, firstly because this game's map design is just focused on close quarters engagement, so even in the few long maps that we have, there are a lot of choke points where you can challenge with shotguns, but on close quarters maps like 99% of the games, there aren't sniper lines, even if you can find them, because of flinch, you get outgunned by 90% of weapon because of the flinch, so we need to give snipers a chance to win a engagement when they don't shoot first.
So I've come up with those two things, i hope you'll like one or both:
-First, really simple one, let's modify how flinch works on snipers. My idea is to bring back Destiny 1 original flinch, maybe a tiny bit increased, but when the guardian shields break, hit a huge amount of flinch over them even higher than the one that there's now, in order to penalize those who hardscopes turning down the phase of the game and rewording those who use snipers in a really aggressive and skillful way. In this way, good snipers can take one or two shots and still able to shoot back, than after this their done, so that they can't pull those frustrating clutch shots that were common back in D1.
-The second one it's a bit different, and I think it cannot work well on Pc, but still I'll suggest it on console: Make snipers Halo-Like.
Leave the flinch as it Is now, or even increase it or even make snipers scope out when getting shot like Halo does, but give them a hip fire Crosshair, with 100% accuracy and reduced or none Aim assist and no flinch, so that they can rely on this when getting shot at.
As the suggestion above, this is aimed to punish those who plays in a really passive way, and give a chance to compete to those who are really good at it.
If you arrived down here and read all that I appreciate you a lot, let me know what you think of this, and sorry if I made some English mistakes, I'm not a native English speaker.
