Lord of Wolves

Probably one of my favorite D1 weapon sets was the entire fallen arsenal from Prison of Elders. When Forsaken revealed that some of my favorites were back the hype was real. I was hoping for a classic view of Dreg's promise again but sadly I found a less than impressive Lord of Wolves. The shrapnel launcher that acts as a pulse rifle with a ten round burst but classifies as a shotgun. The effects on the gun seem cool on paper but while a potential can be seen in crucible, I can't find a good reason to be using my favorite fallen shrapnel launcher outside of crucible, the low ammo capacity even with ammo reserves doesn't pair well with the pulse rifle dynamic on the gun. If it shot a cluster of shrapnel instead of bullets it could be seeing better use, but with Bungie making a horrendous attempt at cross bred pulse shotguns the LoW just looks sad in comparison to its D1 iteration.

  • Lord of Wolves' chief issues are twofold. One, there are so many other excellent exotics that it has to compete with, some of which just outperform it. And two, its ammo reserves are woefully inadequate. Compared with D1, its burst has doubled from 5 to 10, but its ammo count has dropped by over 20%, from 155 to 120. I would recommend boosting magazine capacity to 35, and reserves to 175. I can't guarantee that would solve all the gun's woes, but would make it a viable option for those who like it.
