I'm here to explain his death and connection to Black Armory DLC What we know: Black Armory DLC features a Vault from 3 different nations that stored blueprints, schematics, prototypes and final products of weapons from Pre-Golden and Golden Age. My thoughts: Master Ives stumbled on the general location to the Vault and the Fallen are looking for it to arm themselves, but they need a cryptarch to translate and find it. So they murdered him, spread his pages to numerous Fallen and led us along, knowing that we will find them, avenge him and eventually find it. That's why Kikliss didn't die like normally (instead of going up in flames, he transmatted himself out). So he might show up.
