Hello fellow gamers. I ask a simple question: What's the point of being unable to equip more than one exotic weapon and one exotic armor piece for PvE? I went through all the grind for these weapons as well as powering up their light level and I can't use more than one at a time? Maybe PvP it makes sense but for PvE too?

for one thing balance, every current encounter would get destroyed, also(more importantly) legendaries would become as worthless as blues and the loot pool would become tiny. It is meant to be a meaningful choice which exotic you use, legendaries are meant to be good, exotics are meant to be so special that you can only have one at a time.

Because alot of exotic do special, unique things, and some of them may contradict and cause problems in the software. In short, it could cause alot of unforseen bugs and glitches, and make more strenuous work for the developers

*equips Crimson, Riskrunner, and Thunderlord* *equips Crown of Tempests, Karnstein Armlets, Vesper of Radius, and Geomag Stabilizers* *insert maniacal laughter followed by lightning noises and screaming aliens*

i had the idea back in D1 that there should be an exotic emblem that allows you to either equip two exotic weapons (and no exotic armor) or two exotic armor pieces (no exotic weapons), and of course if you wanted one of each as normal. I'm sure that would still break something tho

Edited by GrundleBeans: 11/15/2018 11:31:07 PMBecause that would be unbalanced. Do you know of One-Punch Man? The short of it is a guy decides he wants to become a hero, in a universe where there are heroes with superpowers and monsters that they fight to protect other people. He physically trains to become powerful to the point where one day he's suddenly arguably the strongest, fastest being on the planet and can utterly destroy most monsters in a single punch. This has led him to realizing no enemy is ever a challenge for him and he is always bored and disappointed with how easy beating an opponent is. If we could equip exotics in every slot at the same time, we would inevitably all end up with a similar outcome: boredom and a sense of no purpose to playing because everything is too easy. If we were to be able to equip multiple exotics, then the paradigm of how enemies are challenging would also need to change.

IMO all exotic crucible mode would be hella fun i could just imagine the options. No supers just exotic loadouts. id play the shit out of that. But hey to each their own i suppose.
-
I've always thought that there should be an exotic class item which simply allows 2 exotic weapons to be equipped at the same time, I don't know if this would break the game but I think allowing us to use 2 exotic weapons at the same time would be worthy of the exotic armor spot left!
-
The fact that you can already destroy bosses relatively easy with only one exotic should be your answer.
-
I imagine it’s not just for balance but also for identifying with what unique gun you like to use. That isn’t the answer that a big dps/numbers/efficiency person would want to hear, but it just adds a bit more “personality” maybe

Git gud

I agree it sucks, But imagine the calls for nerfs if we could equip multiple and the benefits stacked off some? crazy good builds I hope they enable it at least for Mayhem when it returns

This make me think of how ridiculously over the top my hunter would be if I could wear wormhusk helm, shards of galinor, ophidia spathe, and stompees while wielding, AoS, LoW, and Whisper. Then again, with super mods in all the armor, I could run through anything spamming fan of knives and using my super every 30 seconds. Weapons would be irrelevant. Then again, I could also run gravaton forfeit, sealed ahamkara grasps, sixth coyote, and orpheus rigs while wielding Cerberus +1, LoW and Black Talon on my Nightstalker.

The game would be ridiculously easy if we got to wear all exotics lol...that has always bewn how ito works and bungie designs the game around that fact...they would have to either make those items more bland and less unique and/or scale challenges up to compensate...and it's part of making loadout decisions and player builds as well as several other reasons related to game play including the way they drop right now ( the "must have this or that" mentality would be much worse and create a lot of problems within fireteams because of the scaled up difficulty the would be necessary) and it creates a lot of issues that aren't good for the game...exotics are supposed to be rare and unique items that force players to think about how they are playing the game and being able to use them in every slot would completely ruin that

That's just the way it is, balance.

Edited by Subsistence_Sasquatch: 11/15/2018 12:58:54 PMOne might think this would be pro- player choice, but ultimately it would restrict it. If more than 1 Exotic was possible, enemy health bars would have to be increased significantly. This would promote a meta that would have no close seconds. If you didn't have or want to use said meta, you were at a disadvantage. In future content, Bungie would have to keep that meta in mind and either nerf them or make the enemies strong enough to keep the content relevant and challenging. That would, again, put the players without these weapons on at even more of a disadvantage, lessen the viability of other weapons, or call for nerfs. That's why.

Edited by Dark Raven 2501: 11/15/2018 9:36:51 PMUnfortunately this is a restriction on exotics that is a leftover from the first game and is really stupid if you stop and think about it. Why the he’ll would you send out your fighting force and place restrictions on the use of their equipment when confronting the enemy it just doesn’t make any sense what so ever

You are at soft cap don’t even waste your time infusing for a bit

It's interesting how many responses have been "The game would be too easy" , "It would break the game" and yet so many people are also happy to just cheese Riven.

If destiny did this, crucible would be a madhouse. Forget supers, you would barely even need them. If bungie actually did this, they would have lost my intrest.

Balance

Exotics are too unique and powerful, and certain combinations would be pretty game-breaking (and already can be, even with only one exotic being allowed per "side" of your character). Bungie would have to make the enemies in the game way too strong (back to the bullet sponges of old) AND would also have to work much much harder on game balance (to fix unforeseen combinations). Also, as others have mentioned, this would make legendary items useless, and would make getting them pretty unrewarding. As it is, things like raid armor and "unique" purple weapons are really cool, because you know you can use them with no restrictions. For example, my Horror Story is a godsend, because it's a very good weapon that doesn't hamstring my use of an exotic secondary or heavy.
-
Imo there should be certain exotic instances (Exotic Nightfall e.g.) were the enemies would be so powerful (40LL+) that you would need an exotic item in every slot just to survive. A PvE Mayhem if you will. Allowing multiple exotics equibable everywhere in the sandbox would not add more but less variety to the game, since it would basically render any legendary item in the game useless.

Edited by Unbreakable Patches: 11/15/2018 3:39:31 PMBeing able to equip multiple exotics would kind of make legendary items useless. Not to mention it’d break the game.
