Why even bother with competitive game mode rewards in pvp? Scum bags are going to try and earn it their way and everyone else gets hurt and we end up paying price.
Seriously bungie this is your fault. Trials and comp should never have existed in destiny.

Disagree. Comp and Trials are great. What -blam!-s them up is having loot. This is what Overwatch gets right. Their comp mode doesn't offer gear that confers a gameplay advantage, just golden weapons and a rank badge you can be proud of. When Bungie puts Redrix's or Luna's or Not Forgotten in comp/trials, they are offering a real sweet, tasty carrot for DDoSers to chase.

This is destiny not overwatch Destiny is a looter shooter PvP balance ruins PvE and PvE loots and variance ruins PvP balance PvP is intended to be a side attraction Bungie does not have resources for a fair and competitive PvP game Trails of Osiris gave us D2 vanilla Competitive brought in DDoS,account recoveries and aimbots Lack of skill gap in general PvP Unbalanced elo distribution Horrible matchmaker Lack of punishment from bungie for bad behaviours

PvP is meant to be a side attraction — is that your opinion? Or is that an official statement from Bungie? Because for me, and for many others I know, it's the main attraction. Remove PvP and I'll no longer play Destiny, and many others will also leave. Since day one, Destiny has had PvP. It's an integral part of the game. It should be improved, not ditched. Finally, "lack of skill gap" in PvP is an opinion. "Skill" is subjective, but most players agree, the skill gap has gone up, not down. I've played other shooters, and Destiny is no more or less "skillful" than they are.

Because Bungie still can't make up their mind about what sort of game Destiny is, and want to appeal to as many crowds as they can. Destiny's PvE crowd greatly outnumbers the PvP crowd, but they insist on ramming PvP/Gambit aspects into quests, Clan bounties, and Milestones, throwing in Iron Banner and Trials, and using the functionally-infinite PvP grind as a justification for prolonging every other aspect of the game. (Doesn't surprise me that it's attracted cheaters, nor that Bungie aren't proactively removing players that paid for the game and inflate their player numbers...been happening since the Halo days.) PvP should have been a playground to mess around with our favorite gear, rather than the meta-driven sweaty mess it's become...there's no place for "competition" when there are no rules, and the fact that the Crucible is negatively affecting PvE gameplay and power is one of the driving forces behind why players are dropping off. (Just look at Gambit - it's a hybrid game type that's become so PvP-driven that Exotics are being "tuned" to compensate for the fact it was poorly designed and promotes trolling the other team over playing the objective, while that trolling is a central mechanic to multiple Exotic quests...the PvE side is basically an afterthought for the devs and players alike. I have a feeling a lot of the random disconnects and massive connection drops when an Invader arrives aren't the game having issues.) Honestly, I feel like Destiny should have been a 200-hour game with a smaller loot pool, a deeper story, more powerful mid- to end-game rewards, and a solid "ending," with maybe 30-40 hours added with each DLC, less artificial grind to chase down "god rolls" for hundreds of weapons (most of which get ignored anyway), and less emphasis on PvP as a necessity rather than a tacked-on optional activity - if players want to shoot each other with their new toys in the meantime, fine, but it shouldn't be a central focus of the experience (the cheaters, horrible connections, and general unfriendliness towards non-hardcore players are just icing on the cake). Just my $0.02 - IMO, Forsaken's both the best and worst Destiny has ever been, and the "worsts" are 100% on the PvP side. From cheaters boosting through a grind that shouldn't exist, to players dropping out of Gambit to screw the other team out of the already-too-rare Malfeasance boss, to weapon/ability "tunes" and meta reinforcement, that entire side of the game could disappear tomorrow and Destiny would likely be a better game for it.

Yep. It’s time for pvp to go into the bin. It’s held the franchise back since day 1 D1 and is holding it back still.
