We have been DoSed numerous times in the Crucible, I used to record and report every DoS but I have stopped doing that when I saw that no bans were ever issued even months after numerous reports with video proofs.
Same with rapid-fire glitch macros cheaters (like [redacted]), [redacted] was banned by hand after popular Destiny YouTuber released two videos about him. If [redacted] was banned then we know that what he was doing is considered bannable offense by Bungie.
But there is a cheater just like [redacted] in my connection who was doing it for over a year now without any ban. We match this cheater every day and we report him every day. That is why I can say with 100% certainty that in-game reports don't work, web form reports with video proofs and PGCR links don't work.
Some time ago I have created a thread here about cheater problem, in two days it had over 200 up votes, filled with joy that maybe now something will be done, I have tweeted it to every Bungie developer I knew, just shortly after I did that, my thread was deleted!
Here is the full story that wrote in response to that: https://telegra.ph/How-Bungies-forum-rules-have-led-to-game-breaking-exploit-being-in-two-games-for-3-years-and-counting-05-03
tl;dr: Bungie actively sweeps these issues under the rug for way, way too long. This is criminal. When I told about how Bungie handles cheaters to my ISP they were lost for words. I just don't how can Bungie be so incompetent at handling this issue, yet so good at hiding it.
I love my ISP: they provide cheap, fast, reliable Internet with IPv6 support, home router with open source firmware, open NAT without double NAT, they are simply the best. But now I have to be on their bad side because of Bungie unbelievable, inconceivable, incomprehensible incompetence.
My ISP told me that it was 12gb attack from a single IP address.
Here is PCGR of yestertday's DoS:
[links redacted]
Look at that, a 4-stack of recoveries. Just let that sink in, Bungie is so incompetent that people can reliably DoS their way to 5500 without any account ban. Let. That. Sink. In.
After DoS attack we logged back in and the game tried to reconnect us back, but as always it didn't work. It never worked even one time. Why was this feature added to the game if does not work at all?
Level of incompetence from Bungie's security team is simply astonishing. It is insane that they could sweep this under the rug for so long and ignore the issue. After 5 000+ hours of D1 and D2 I hold opinion that people play Destiny because of reward system and they are forced to endure horrible balance, horrible PvP and cheaters who don't get banned. I think that Destiny 2, with the way that Bungie threats it, can be classified as psychological violence. Because we really need mental help after this incredible injustice that have to witness on daily basis. I know that I could easily inflict real act of violence if a member of Bungie security team were standing in front of me. After everything that me and my team had to endure in this horrible, horrible game
when you have an ult attack in-game that can be countered only by jumping off the map your game should be considered horrible
that we keep coming back to because of the rewards. I get that it's hard to detect and ban all kinds of private cheats on PC, but I'm talking about PS4 and Xbox One console versions of Destiny 2. Consoles are secure, closed down platforms, where only couple forms of cheating exist: connection manipulation, DoS attacks and macros. It is simply incomprehensible that game as a Service, game that can be considered platform all in itself, cannot deal with this. A good developer would have disabled any competitive playlist until these issues are resolved, but Bungie just rolls with it and sweeps everything under the rug.
I'm posting this again with Ninja edit, because previous post was silently REMOVED FROM INDEXATION so no one could find it or post there, but it would still accessible via direct link.
They still actively sweeping it under a rug, this is crazy!
Check it out yourself, here is the link to the old thread: https://www.bungie.net/en/Forums/Post/249494026
Looks okay, right? But can you find it or post there?

This definitely needs to be fixed. I don’t know what’s going on in Bungie to have this happen, but this is fmdefinately unacceptable. Hopefully bungie will see this, not delete it, and that the cheaters will get banned for good.
the forums are not the place. they say they read here, and comment just enough to make it seem true. the bungie forums are not a highly visible public place. in other words, no one who isnt already a bungie fan is gonna see or hear about the forums. if you want to be visible you guys should try bungie and destiny's: twitter, facebook, and redditt. this doesnt mean go follow deej and harrass him personally, it means go put you complaints in a place that receives outside internet traffic you think youre making a difference on the forums? they want you to feel that way.
Edited by Dogcowmd: 11/5/2018 3:34:04 PMJust out of curiosity, what exactly constitutes “video proof” of a dDOS attack?
-
I agree 100%. I've been ddosed several times
-
Tell that to Kanjiklub.
-
This is why I avoid crucible until recently and I'm only doing it for broadsword and then I'm out
-
Ight tracking someone that hit you is awfully hard and to get proof that it was the guy your trying to say is near impossible. You were lucky u only got hit with 12 gb that’s literally nothing compared to what u could get hit w.
-
So if the ISP knows the IP address why can't they go after it?
-
Forever. They aren't going to fix the problem because that would mean getting rid of players. Getting rid of players means no one to buy in-game currency.
-
OMG when will you people wake the -blam!- up and realize Bungie does not care about its players. they never have, they never will. Get over it. Your only hope at getting the bans you are looking for is to get in touch with one of the streamers and have them use their personal hotline to Bungie headquarters.
-
maybe this will lead to class action.
-
1) I dont believe bungie is "sweeping it under the rug" as you say. They may be ineffective at dealing with it but I dont think they are hiding anything. 2) this issue affects a very small amount of players. In my belief maybe 1% of the population has ever experienced a real DDOS but I have no proof of this and will not attempt to convince anyone else this is true. I will say I believe I experienced it once when trials of osiris first launched in D1 I know this because the internet in my house went out for about 5 minutes. However bungie took action in D1 and banned many people pretty much fixing the problem. 3) true DDOS attacks are cyber terrorism and should be treated as such. It's something that affects more than just gaming.

Bungie has such an inconsistent view on cheating its ridiculous. I quit going for redrix after my teammates and I were dosed 2 or 3 times in one day BY THE SAME TEAM. A team we had all reported, and why is the advanced report so hard to find. I posted it to the forums and besides people not caring a few even suggested I wasnt dosed at all.
-
Bump Let's keep upvoting this as long as we can
-
This is why I hate Crucible, its imbalanced, ill cared for, and to some, rigged. I have never played something so inconsistent in my life. In knowing the fact that cheaters arent banned in this scenario is absolutely absurd. And yet they advertise it as one of their golden achievements? I dont know how they're letting this go unanswered this badly. Don't get me wrong, I'd like to play Crucible a bit more but this is driving me away. But the thing that really grinds my gears is that a broken PvP game list is the cause of some our best gear to go bad because of a cry for balance. I cant stand it.

I was on the other day and the other team i was playing against reckon they got doSed, to be fair it looked like they did, the guy started accusing me. said he was reporting me. I just told him sorry mate but what do you want me to do about it just look at my tracker you will see how many i have lost and i have never played with them people. Its wrong to that sort of thing but its like matey said if they dont have dedicated servers than there ain't nothing they can do about it.
-
You sound fairly knowledgeable but also fairly paranoid. you know damn good and well there's very little they can do about this as long as there's not dedicated servers.
-
Take this post to reddit Destiny The Game. You won’t get stuff deleted from your post and it is a better outlet than these forums

Edited by Les Grossman: 11/5/2018 12:30:37 PMHere’s the bottom line... If you aren’t YT streamer with millions of likes and subs Bungie doesn’t give two -blam!-s about you and your problems. Hence you complaining about people not being banned after a year of reporting them and a tuber got it done with one video. Sorry but we are the little man. You know, the ones that put food on their tables while they are “gifting” streamers for their dedicated support.
-
Understand that sony has some responsibility here as well. Having said that i will go on to state that i will not be playing or purchasing any thing created by bungie again, this is the ONLY solution. Not only does bungie do nothing to fix these problems or provide a decent environment for the pvp they keep desperately shoving down our throats they actually seem to be supporting the cheaters. Perhaps they simply can not afford to lose any paying customer? But not only do we have to deal with other players manipulating our games bungie themselves manipulate the flow and even the outcome of our games. (Gambit) i think many paying customers are beginning to conclude that bungie is just too cheap (no dedicated servers) and underhanded to support any further.

Edited by PhEnOm: 11/5/2018 1:35:14 PMSo you want criminals to ban criminals, or how do you call it, when a company sells you EV xp boons for real money and then secretly throttle xp progression? To me, these so-called criminals are sheep compared to Bungie.
However, couldn't agree more and there's something need to be done. But i wouldn't have high hopes that Bungie will do something. Because you not only perfectly nailed the issues happening in the game, but also realized the incapability and incompetence of Bungie. But still, i hope players like you keep fighting the good fight.
-
The best way to get them to do something is if everyone stopped playing.
-
It's a little eye opening to say the least. If you're really sure about all this send it to some big gaming journalists / youtubers along with all the evidence. Say people like Jason Schreier, YongYea, Skill Up, pretty much anyone who's covered some of the previous controversies with Bungie. You'll suddenly find Bungie very talkative.
My ISP told me that it was 12gb attack from a single IP address.
That evidence alone should be enough to get anyone permanently banned. The fact Bungie sit on this and do nothing makes them either complicit or incompetent. I honestly don't know what's worse at this point.
-
Which is why I avoid D2 PvP like the plague. No Competitive mode, no Trials, and minimal QuickPlay and/or Gambit (only enough for the powerful engrams - when that mattered). I did the IB a bit just to get the armor set. That's it. The frustration of that mode is not worth the aggravation. Even in D1 the only times I really played PvP much was during IB to help level up. Now that all 3 guardians are maxed out, there will be virtually no PvP for me.
-
I’ll give this a bump and upvote to keep it at the top. Curious to see if this pans out into anything.

Ok after reading all the comments heres what can happen You can’t sue bungie because you haven’t had your reputation damaged or been hacked or anything like that To sue you have to prove bungie not only knew but failed to do anything about it Criminal charges can be laid as it was an unauthorised access to personal information and actions taken were not of bungies guidance or guidelines for running the program Your best bet is to contact a cyber crime division of law enforcement and put forward your case as best you can It may not get the results you want but everything is on file and if your right these types always slip up eventually You just need the patience to see it through
