We have been DoSed numerous times in the Crucible, I used to record and report every DoS but I have stopped doing that when I saw that no bans were ever issued even months after numerous reports with video proofs.
Same with rapid-fire glitch macros cheaters (like [redacted]), [redacted] was banned by hand after popular Destiny YouTuber released two videos about him. If [redacted] was banned then we know that what he was doing is considered bannable offense by Bungie.
But there is a cheater just like [redacted] in my connection who was doing it for over a year now without any ban. We match this cheater every day and we report him every day. That is why I can say with 100% certainty that in-game reports don't work, web form reports with video proofs and PGCR links don't work.
Some time ago I have created a thread here about cheater problem, in two days it had over 200 up votes, filled with joy that maybe now something will be done, I have tweeted it to every Bungie developer I knew, just shortly after I did that, my thread was deleted!
Here is the full story that wrote in response to that: https://telegra.ph/How-Bungies-forum-rules-have-led-to-game-breaking-exploit-being-in-two-games-for-3-years-and-counting-05-03
tl;dr: Bungie actively sweeps these issues under the rug for way, way too long. This is criminal. When I told about how Bungie handles cheaters to my ISP they were lost for words. I just don't how can Bungie be so incompetent at handling this issue, yet so good at hiding it.
I love my ISP: they provide cheap, fast, reliable Internet with IPv6 support, home router with open source firmware, open NAT without double NAT, they are simply the best. But now I have to be on their bad side because of Bungie unbelievable, inconceivable, incomprehensible incompetence.
My ISP told me that it was 12gb attack from a single IP address.
Here is PCGR of yestertday's DoS:
[links redacted]
Look at that, a 4-stack of recoveries. Just let that sink in, Bungie is so incompetent that people can reliably DoS their way to 5500 without any account ban. Let. That. Sink. In.
After DoS attack we logged back in and the game tried to reconnect us back, but as always it didn't work. It never worked even one time. Why was this feature added to the game if does not work at all?
Level of incompetence from Bungie's security team is simply astonishing. It is insane that they could sweep this under the rug for so long and ignore the issue. After 5 000+ hours of D1 and D2 I hold opinion that people play Destiny because of reward system and they are forced to endure horrible balance, horrible PvP and cheaters who don't get banned. I think that Destiny 2, with the way that Bungie threats it, can be classified as psychological violence. Because we really need mental help after this incredible injustice that have to witness on daily basis. I know that I could easily inflict real act of violence if a member of Bungie security team were standing in front of me. After everything that me and my team had to endure in this horrible, horrible game [spoiler]when you have an ult attack in-game that can be countered only by jumping off the map your game should be considered horrible[/spoiler] that we keep coming back to because of the rewards. I get that it's hard to detect and ban all kinds of private cheats on PC, but I'm talking about PS4 and Xbox One console versions of Destiny 2. Consoles are secure, closed down platforms, where only couple forms of cheating exist: connection manipulation, DoS attacks and macros. It is simply incomprehensible that game as a Service, game that can be considered platform all in itself, cannot deal with this. A good developer would have disabled any competitive playlist until these issues are resolved, but Bungie just rolls with it and sweeps everything under the rug.
I'm posting this again with Ninja edit, because previous post was silently REMOVED FROM INDEXATION so no one could find it or post there, but it would still accessible via direct link.
They still actively sweeping it under a rug, this is crazy!
Check it out yourself, here is the link to the old thread: https://www.bungie.net/en/Forums/Post/249494026
Looks okay, right? But can you find it or post there?

Not saying that cheating is not a real problem, it is basically the bane of any competitive game. Sadly I am not convinced that anybody/any company can make this process perfect aside from maybe an esports-level livestreaming with 10000s of eyes monitoring every movement. Remember the bad press Bungie got for doing banwaves on PC: https://kotaku.com/second-destiny-2-pc-ban-wave-has-some-players-crying-fo-1820194298 ? There are many posts on this forum : How I got Illegitametly banned because I am a software programmer, or I only was in a fireteam were as soon as I realized sth was fishy I left and so on. Now where do you draw the line in believing anything these "wrongly" banned users and the bad apples? Not trying to come up with excuses for Bungie, but that we as players might be a bit too naive about the situation here.

Surely a DDOS attack is at best an Xbox/PS/Blizzard problem? If they can DDOS you they’ll get around anything Bungie can throw at them. Also I’d bet good money people don’t do it on their accounts, more likely one of these people that offers to do the lunas howl grind in your place for money. If you DDOS every game then they get their gun and you get through more “customers” more quickly.

Edited by TheOctoberStorm: 11/6/2018 8:16:52 AMHey, I don't think the quick reload thing works in forsaken. So I guess rapid fire is fixed now. However... If anyone here knows how to exploit networking and controllers this way in forsaken I would like to know.

Bungie only picks fluff posts to respond to. If it's not happening to content creators, they do not care.

Have you tried a vpn?

Edited by PrimitiveAK: 11/6/2018 2:43:35 AMPro Tip: If bungie isn't gonna do jack sh!t about cheaters the easiest way to ban them is bait them into a hate message, and PSN bans within about 15 minutes. First offense is 24-48 hours i believe on PSN. Works every time. PSN will ALWAYS ban for hate speech or any message with swear words directed towards you. My record is 6 minutes getting someone banned.

Document document document plaster the forums with it, reddit, twitter, youtube. Eventually 1 of two things is gonna happen. 1.) Bungie gets sued to the point they go bankrupt. 2.) Everyone just stops buying their games cause of the shitty treatment. And this doesn't just go for them allowing cheaters, paid carries, and recoveries run around free of punishment but also many of their other business decisions like ripping off players that bought the game before they decide here guys it's free now or how about the fact they still didn't apologize for the exp throttling they got caught on. I know I'm not preording d3, I'm not buying d3 till maybe a month to a year after it's release and see what actual players think of the game this time around instead of just hoping on the hype train and going by 2 hours of gameplay from the game informer and sign saying how it's a great game then turn around 2 months later and their talking shit about it.
-
The report button is simply to make people feel like they have some sort of power to influence a Bungie decision. Basically the same as this forum. Bungie does whatever they want to though. They always have and they always will. And with a ever dwindling player base, it's not surprising they won't even ban cheaters at this point.

Real companies ban like this: https://www.google.com/amp/s/na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodestone/amp/news/detail/f4ae446234754bcbaf71a4a17628e2ebea92b2c9 Last I knew, SE would also list the accounts that were banned as well. The correct name and shame policy. Name and shame THE CHEATER.

Edited by Remi: 11/6/2018 2:25:17 AMWent to finally finish the Rat King quest and I just went against the same 3 man team twice in a row. First game we joined it was empty, second game they attacked another member on the team and they couldn't come back. One of them was dumb enough to accept my frequest and typed "whoops" after I called him out. I guess he's too dumb to realize the chat is saved in the Bnet launcher but at the same time I doubt anything is going to happen. My last two Breakout games on my Hunter shows the group of cheaters. **Now his other buddy called himself out by begging me not to report him. These are some stupid cheaters.

Stuff like this makes me hope Anthem provides a good alternative to destiny.

another reason i hate pvp

any one else getting black screen that lasts half the match when your team is winning?
-
I agree whole heartedly with OP. I personally have had to re-initialize my PS4 twice and have had to rebuild my database a half dozen times since Forsaken launch as a result of obvious system manipulation. I don't bother to report anymore because of the wasted hours I've spent compiling the "necessary evidence" and got nowhere. Anyone who questions the validity of this post either doesn't play enough to have experienced this issue, is extremely lucky, or is somebody who is probably guilty of cheating themselves. I admit I should probably give up on this game but it's a lot like life, yes overall destiny, like life, sucks. But you continue to play because of those sweet moments that happen every now and again. Unfortunately though for destiny 2 players those sweet moments are getting fewer and farther between.

D2 should be obvious proof that the folks who work for Bungie aren’t the people who worked there a decade ago and they’ve lost even more of their intelligence and common sense in the last 4 years. Just plain idiot things that leaves me wondering , “just how fracking stupid are you morons?” Their staff should be let go or reassigned and they definitely shouldn’t have any numpties who worked on D2s release anywhere near the development table, they should be in corners with their faces against the wall wearing dunce hats. And who ever greenlighted that idiot voice for our ghost should be slapped in the junk with a fireplace poker, after it has sat in the flames for a few hours.

inherent flaw in p2p that reveals everyone's IP address (can use VPN but nobody does) they could go dedicated servers which hide other players' IP addresses but they don't' want to spend the money

Edited by EzE_408: 11/6/2018 1:05:28 AMHere. Players with 100% win ratios. Lol tell me how that’s possible. https://destinytracker.com/d2/leaderboards/psn/wl When you look at this, look at their wins, individually. See how many opposing players (Did Not Finish) DNF.

Almost a year removed from this DDOS article.... https://www.gamerevolution.com/news/355113-bungies-response-destiny-2s-ddos-attacks-angered-community

Edited by TheShadow-cali: 11/5/2018 4:39:32 PMI'm waiting for a mod to move this post you created. It will most likely be moved because Bungie doesn't want the new gamers seeing the truth on how bad just this alone is in this game. What annoys me is when gamers come on threads like this and "try" to discredit it by saying... Edit: "this never happens to me, stop your complaining", blah blah blah. I'm referring to gamers that try to shut post down like this. This also makes me wonder how many of them are streamers that get away with things like "the worlds first" raid completion nonsense. You know, because cheating is encouraged and you can become a WINNER!

Same. Got DDOS'd today as well. Whole internet went down. Had to reset modem and wireless router. Interesting how this issue is just getting worse and worse. Bungo just wants player numbers to go up.
-
Pepper the forum and reddit. Tweet until you can’t anymore.

Edited by MackDye: 11/6/2018 12:12:53 AMThey dont ban people because it makes that person mad and they wont buy again. Player satisfaction comes last. Profit comes first. Also Bungie may not be banning because they see this as a Sony/Microsoft issue as they are the platform owners. In this case you gotta go through the console company to get people banned and again they may not want to because it will cause a loss in revenue and admit their network isn't all that great.

And still no bungo reply. Useless company. This should by enough to prove that they don't give 2 shits about us
