We have been DoSed numerous times in the Crucible, I used to record and report every DoS but I have stopped doing that when I saw that no bans were ever issued even months after numerous reports with video proofs.
Same with rapid-fire glitch macros cheaters (like [redacted]), [redacted] was banned by hand after popular Destiny YouTuber released two videos about him. If [redacted] was banned then we know that what he was doing is considered bannable offense by Bungie.
But there is a cheater just like [redacted] in my connection who was doing it for over a year now without any ban. We match this cheater every day and we report him every day. That is why I can say with 100% certainty that in-game reports don't work, web form reports with video proofs and PGCR links don't work.
Some time ago I have created a thread here about cheater problem, in two days it had over 200 up votes, filled with joy that maybe now something will be done, I have tweeted it to every Bungie developer I knew, just shortly after I did that, my thread was deleted!
Here is the full story that wrote in response to that: https://telegra.ph/How-Bungies-forum-rules-have-led-to-game-breaking-exploit-being-in-two-games-for-3-years-and-counting-05-03
tl;dr: Bungie actively sweeps these issues under the rug for way, way too long. This is criminal. When I told about how Bungie handles cheaters to my ISP they were lost for words. I just don't how can Bungie be so incompetent at handling this issue, yet so good at hiding it.
I love my ISP: they provide cheap, fast, reliable Internet with IPv6 support, home router with open source firmware, open NAT without double NAT, they are simply the best. But now I have to be on their bad side because of Bungie unbelievable, inconceivable, incomprehensible incompetence.
My ISP told me that it was 12gb attack from a single IP address.
Here is PCGR of yestertday's DoS:
[links redacted]
Look at that, a 4-stack of recoveries. Just let that sink in, Bungie is so incompetent that people can reliably DoS their way to 5500 without any account ban. Let. That. Sink. In.
After DoS attack we logged back in and the game tried to reconnect us back, but as always it didn't work. It never worked even one time. Why was this feature added to the game if does not work at all?
Level of incompetence from Bungie's security team is simply astonishing. It is insane that they could sweep this under the rug for so long and ignore the issue. After 5 000+ hours of D1 and D2 I hold opinion that people play Destiny because of reward system and they are forced to endure horrible balance, horrible PvP and cheaters who don't get banned. I think that Destiny 2, with the way that Bungie threats it, can be classified as psychological violence. Because we really need mental help after this incredible injustice that have to witness on daily basis. I know that I could easily inflict real act of violence if a member of Bungie security team were standing in front of me. After everything that me and my team had to endure in this horrible, horrible game [spoiler]when you have an ult attack in-game that can be countered only by jumping off the map your game should be considered horrible[/spoiler] that we keep coming back to because of the rewards. I get that it's hard to detect and ban all kinds of private cheats on PC, but I'm talking about PS4 and Xbox One console versions of Destiny 2. Consoles are secure, closed down platforms, where only couple forms of cheating exist: connection manipulation, DoS attacks and macros. It is simply incomprehensible that game as a Service, game that can be considered platform all in itself, cannot deal with this. A good developer would have disabled any competitive playlist until these issues are resolved, but Bungie just rolls with it and sweeps everything under the rug.
I'm posting this again with Ninja edit, because previous post was silently REMOVED FROM INDEXATION so no one could find it or post there, but it would still accessible via direct link.
They still actively sweeping it under a rug, this is crazy!
Check it out yourself, here is the link to the old thread: https://www.bungie.net/en/Forums/Post/249494026
Looks okay, right? But can you find it or post there?

Nothing new here, bungie doesnt give a shiz, been ddos so many times in trials season 1&2. They got their money, thats all that matters to them
-
Huh, how come bungie hasn't fixed this already? You'd think such an studio would've fixed it by now, after all we did have some good memories with Halo PC. Shame though, hope this is sorted out soon with the influx of new players coming in. (I also stopped myself from getting the DLC because of this issue)

Fix the ****ing game

Bungie is s bunch of pussies.

Edited by Darth-Bellicose: 11/5/2018 1:16:35 AMDoesn't matter Bungie has made it clear they do not know how to create balanced or captivating, challenging content. Destiny is dying, may it rest in peace. This game attracts the most toxic level of losers in existence then caters to them. Just look at the World's first and that tells you that Bungie has no loyalty to its customers only to advancing their agenda. Unfortunately, it is turning out to be that Bungie's agenda is to go out of business.

Dedicated servers. It's that simple.

simple answer remove competative n luna howl problem solved

Jeez this is horrible how Bungie is dealing with this. It’s the exact opposite of what any sane gaming company would do. What amazes me is how they are trying so hard to not deal with ddosers. Don’t they know that’s how you ruin a game? Not being able to enjoy the base game?
-
Yo I love that this is getting so much traction. It’s an embarrassment to Bungies name that there are some many technical issues with this game.
-
I hope everybody knows what to do in a case like this. If you have specific information, as outlined in attached, then contact your local FBI office to report it. [url]https://www.wikihow.com/Report-DDoS-Attacks[/url]

The amount of people participating and providing paid carries in competitive, either by connection or by just being skilled is actually disgusting. And nothing is done about it.

Edited by WiggletonBandit: 11/6/2018 6:23:44 PMI honestly don't know how this has never been a bigger news story. Bungie has created an environment through a distributed P2P network and a competitive gaming reward system that encourages players to initiate DoS attacks (a Federal Crime in the US) in order to win at their game. Further, the demand to win at the game is high enough that services have sprung up where-by one player can pay another to perpetrate these crimes on their behalf. Meanwhile Bungie/Activision takes no responsibility in policing the P2P infrastructure they maintain, and do not even perform basic common sense monitoring, banning, and reporting of obvious perpetrators of these crimes to authorities. I'm no lawyer, but I can't see how Bungie/Activision and perhaps by extension Microsoft/Sony is not at least partly complicit in DoS crimes being committed via their P2P platform.

You all act like this is new. They haven’t done anything about it since ...... ever. What’s great is the brainiacs at bungie created comp Crucible where your rank declines if you lose (motivation for those to cheat to win) . Then the incredibly intelligent but lazy bungie tied winning in comp (gaining rank) to two of the most sought after guns in the game. Thus more motivation for people to cheat. I have said this before but NO ONE AT BUNGIE PLAYS THEIR OWN -blam!-ING GAME! If they did telesto and wave splitter would be in the heavy slot for (PvP only) and nothing would be tied to PvP winning since there is p2p servers and people cheat to win! Last note: success in crucible is more about rng than anything else. Dear Cosmo please urge your company to hire play testers
-
the only way to get bungie to listen is to start streaming or start a youtube channel. if you are like me a normal paying costumer just wanting to play d2 they dont give two shits about us or our gaming experience the pvp side of this games is a mess its filled with cheaters and the pvp being unbalanced as hell doesnt help either.
-
There was an article on reddit awhile back about a hacker organization that paid bungie to allow them to cheat. They lost a huge fan base and had to make up for fund loss soo yeah they accept payment to allow hacks. D3 will be an amazing failure due to the community awareness! Dont be a fool, become informed.

Hey, I ask again since my last comment got downvoted. Does anyone know of any ways you can cheat with destiny forsaken? I can't find any ways to rapid fire rn. I think they fixed it. The shoot, reload and pull out your ghost doesn't seem to work anymore. I don't think DDoS attacks are bungies problem. I mean, they can't stop people from doing it. Even if they could, how would they know who in the game was doing it? There are 4 people on a team and you can't ban all of them for playing with a cheater, that they may not even know are cheating. You can see the IP address of everyone you connect to using simple software, I do it to see where my matches are from and how laggy the game is going to be. that's not against the rules, that's just how you share information between games. If you want to stop it then you should get a VPN to protect your Identity and your games.

What you guys need to understand is that Bungie views cheating like grocery stores view their “15 items or less” check out isles. It’s implied, but they sure as hell aren’t going to enforce the policy with paying customers. All they can hope for is that most customers will respect the policy. Every dollar counts in today’s world.

Btw, I do believe you! VG247.COM is a gamer site.

Bungie's behavior toward cheaters is absolutely disgusting. I can only assume that they don't want to ban them because they are their best customers. Even though these cheaters DESTROY the overall health of the game, and leave a massive portion of the player base with a negative view of the Crucible. I disagree with bans though. I don't think a company should ever be allowed to remove anyone from any game they paid for without a full and complete refund. Instead, they should be placed into "Dunce" playlists. They should be forced to wear Dunce Caps in every activity, including Raids and Strikes. They should only be allowed to play Crucible against other cheaters. The rewards for these playlists should be 10% of the rewards for normal players. The length of time they are banished to these cheater only playlists should be determined by the seriousness of the offense (DoS is a crime, the punishment should be permanent) and quality of evidence. Low evidence should result in a minimal period of punishment, but it should not go unpunished. If repeated offenses occur, it should be permanent.

Time for a #ban cheaters to take over forums like #eververse

If you did get said phone call why didn’t you get the ip and destroy there router with a real dos attack .

Competitive is riddled with Dos attacks.. you think it's bad now... wait till Trials comes back 😂

-
That sucks. I play a crap ton of crucible and all I ever run into is lag. No ddossers or macros. Weird. Hate it for the people that run into it.

Bump this man for real

Last time they did anything about it if I remember correctly was when people started reporting directly to Microsoft instead of them.
