So due to some encounters me and some other forum users have had in gambit with shitty players who are there to make your day hell (they’ll be on your team doing it so watch out), I decided to make some basic rules for gambit that generally should improve your match.
1: bank motes fast! If you have enough motes to get a blocker on the other side, DO IT! Don’t risk dying just so you can bank 15 motes at once.
2: Watch where your teammates die. This is just so you don’t go rushing to save a teammate only to discover they died trying to take on 20+ enemies. Which leads me to the next point.
3: Don’t try to be a one man army. Taking on more enemies than you can count is a sure fire way to get yourself killed and lose motes you could’ve used to prevent the enemy guardian from banking those 15 motes and creating a taken ogre on your end.
4: invade (if possible) when the enemy is building up a lot of motes and isn’t being smart enough to bank them. You can delay them from summoning their primeval and prevent some blockers from slowing your team down.
5: so this is very situational, but if you are on the last round and you don’t get your primeval up first but [b]you[/b] specifically have the motes to summon it, don’t waste the motes by killing yourself. This will only make your team pissed and will likely cause you to lose if the enemy primeval is at half health or less.
6: don’t waste an invasion. If you invade while the enemy primeval is at max health, you are wasting an invasion. Wait for the enemy primeval to be down by about a third of its health, as killing enemy guardians will bring it back up to full and they will probably have started focusing on trying to get the primeval dead as they’re already 1/3 of the way done.
7: don’t wait until you need to bank motes to take out blockers. If you’re close to the bank or see that it’s got a locked symbol on top of it, go try to take out the blockers. It’ll help your team lose less motes overall when they need to bank as they’ll be at less risk of dying when they get there and can more quickly get back to killing enemies and collecting motes.
8: you know those primeval envoys. You know, the taken wizards that spawn next to the primeval. Kill those first. You’ll lower the damage resistance of the primeval, build up your primeval killer buff, and make it easier to recover from when an invader comes over and kills your whole team.
9: don’t leave the match when you have motes. Similar to killing yourself if you’re losing and you have the motes to summon the primeval, this will piss you team off if you do this. They’ll likely follow up the match they likely lost by reporting you for leaving early and sabotage.
