Location: Alien Mothership
The drone of the helicopter’s rotors. The sand against his face. The dark shelter of the ship. Cormick could still feel it. He could feel the pellets of sand buffeting his face, even on the Mothership.
Awakening from a brief exhaustion, he looked up to see his teammates descending onto the ship, a flurry of parachutes hitting the ground as each one landed. A bald man came up to Cormick, who was lying on the ground, half awake, still shivering. The man, Till, looked him over, and his face crumpled into a smile...
“Rough landing?”
“Yeah. Never was into being a paratrooper.” Cormick let the words flow out consistently as his breath flowed normally.
Till outstretched a gloved hand, a rifle in his other, and Cormick grabbed it, getting pulled up by Till’s arm alone. Cormick dusted himself off, and ignored the pain in his legs. He had a job to do. A masked figure walked up to the two battle-hardened men. It as Vice, a man known for his affection for explosions, according to Till. Vice’s muffled voice squeezed out of his mask, sounding grim and unearthly...
“Map’s beginning to start up.”
“Nice job Vice. We’ll mark the Objective and Exfil.”
Till’s voice was still consistent. Apparently, an alien mothership didn’t bother him.
Cormick began to gather into a group surrounding a small tablet of some sort. It was a faint green, showing the interior of the ship. Dex was pointing out the locations that would be of importance for the team...
“We’re currently located in the outer rims of the ship, shy of two hundred meters from a pipe which we’ll use to board the ship. “
Dex’s voice mixed in with the surroundings, and it became somewhat of a blur to Cormick. Looking for something to get his attention, he walked around the area, his boots creating clangs of sound against the metal beneath him. He looked up to see a sandy sky, with sand flying all around. It was where they had dropped from. He looked back at the platform he was on. It was wide, filled with metal sheets and plates of some sort. Something caught his eye, however. He crouched down onto the floor beneath him, and caught sight of a small green drop of a liquid of some sort. He was hesitant to touch it, but something urged him to briefly poke it. Something he could not... explain...
“Cormick! Off your ass! We need to get to the pipe.”
Vice’s voice startled him into awareness, and he shot up into a march. He followed his other three teammates.
They proceeded past a few unsymmetrical structures and a few pipes of some sort, transferring the same green liquid Cormick had seen earlier. After a few more minutes of walking and instructions from Till, the team had reached the canal, a large gaping hole drilled into the ship’s side. The team stood there in silence for a moment...
“Well... are we gonna go?”
Dex’s voice was met with no response. Till began to laugh heartily, and he began to speak in a lax tone...
“Funny... this reminds me of the time I blew up a sewer pipe back in the States.... heheheh....”
Till wiped his face with a gloved hand, and he looked back up. Dex began to talk a little more, the atmosphere being a bit more lax now...
“Till? What’re you gonna do once we head back home?”
Till responded with a hearty laugh and a voice of joy...
“Why, I haven’t seen my daughter in years now! Poor girl must he wonderin if she even had a dad!”
Till’s laugh suddenly died down, and his face held a grim posture. Vice’s voice was muffled as always as he began to speak...
“When I get home, I’ll be getting a promotion.”
Dex spoke out another question...
“No Vice. I meant any family or a sweetheart you’re goin back to!”
“Well in that case I got a few criminals I got a date with...”
Dex shook his head and chuckled. He stood up and spoke...
“I’m finally gonna get that College education and settle down with a girl. Gonna be nice.”
Till patted Dex on the back, and Till’s face of smiles and joy turned to Cormick...
“What about you Cormick?”
Cormick’s eyes were slits now, and his mouth was shut tight, his gaze set to the ground.
“My parents were killed by Cryptoids shortly after delivering me. All I have to go back to is my Uncle and the sweet taste of vengeance.”
Till’s face was collapsed now, his white toothy smile replaced with a tightly shut mouth. Cormick looked up at the pipe and pointed to it...
“We should get moving” his voice slithered, and Cormick slid into the pipe, followed by Vice, Dex, and soon after, Till. The splashing of water droplets was heard echoing throughout the pipe. Darkness enveloped the team as they proceeded further down the hole. The sound of their boots interrupting the flood of liquid beneath them radiated throughout the chamber, booming with every step. Light became scarce, and soon Cormick couldn’t see the other three striding beside him. They were nothing but sounds now, sounds of splashing liquid in the darkness.
A noise was heard up ahead. Cormick perked his head up, and he brought his gun up. An M16. A trusted gun, one that would definitely not let one down. He tickled the trigger, and watched the dark abyss in front of him. The splashing beside him stopped, but he could hear the sounds of guns clicking and equipment jingling. He heard Till’s voice to his right, and shortly after, a growl, high-pitched and reptilian, originating from somewhere in the tunnel.
“Gents. We got company. Weapons free. Let’s get these pieces of shits.”
