Last night the Dawnbreakers brotherhood and Destiny lost an amazing Titan. Deriss, aka Joshua Foley, was a military vet, Titan master class boss, Dawnbreakers admin, and information guru.
Deriss joined our clan during Destiny beta days on Xbox One and has been a part of our clan ever since. Even when Destiny lost its light we still journeyed as a group of friends across many other awesome worlds until Destiny brought it back.
Deriss you were our clan’s pragmatic leader and resident smart guy but we enjoyed every moment of your life you were willing to share with your brothers. Deriss took his life after facing many battles both inward and outward. If you see a loved one struggling don’t let them fight the darkness alone because we don’t leave fireteam members behind.
Deriss.....Josh, although Destiny brought us together you’re presence and joy helped make us a family. We love you brother. Eyes up, Guardian.

Though i didn't get to meet him i'm sure that he was a good person and a great fireteam member, i know how much this game can bring people together. I'm no Veteran player seeing as how i started in Vanilla D2 but i know for a fact that destiny is a gateway for socialising and meeting new people I met my clan through destiny, i got my friends into destiny and i've met so many amazing people through destiny...i'm so very sorry to hear for your loss If you ever need anything feel free to message me on xbox live, i'll be happy to play with you...Eyes up guardian, Eyes up

I lost a coworker the same way a few years ago. He, too, was a veteran, a tank pilot, and had been through Bosnia and Afghanistan. I will never forget the day he didn't show up for his shift and the boss called his cell phone, only to get his devastated widow on the other end. I know what you guys are going through, and what his family is going through. It's a terrible thing to lose someone to suicide, and is something that shouldn't been taken lightly. My condolences to all affected.

Many condolences for your loss. I've had a family member do the same thing so definitely know how you feel!

-
Rest in peace Josh. May God help his family. Prayers to all of you.
-
althow i dont agree with these kinds of posts, my best wishes to his friends and family. may god be with you in this time of need.
-
Plot twist: he just left the clan.
-
He’d probably still be alive if Bungie started giving us Forsaken exotics
-
If he played destiny competitive mode, I fully understand where he is coming from. I think about it all the time when I get done playing it too. Nothing like turning on a video game to try and escape the bullshit, to then make a bad day turn sour instantly. Thanks Bungie! Sorry to hear about the loss of a friend.

I personally don’t feel anything when someone dies, no matter how close to me. I don’t know what grief is. But know that you have my full support in recovering from this loss.
-
My condolences to his family and to you guys.

My condolences. I’m at 15 years in currently and I can tell you the demons really suck. For a long time ptsd was treated as a death sentence. I had a mental health tell me not to talk to them unless I wanted to get out after a deployment. If you and your clan want to do a fundraising stream anything for the family please let me know and I’ll be glad to join. I’ve lost countless brothers to the same thing.

The Winterborn Order mourns your lose.

As Shaxx once said: “Guardians never die. But we don’t forget those who do.”
