Last night the Dawnbreakers brotherhood and Destiny lost an amazing Titan. Deriss, aka Joshua Foley, was a military vet, Titan master class boss, Dawnbreakers admin, and information guru.
Deriss joined our clan during Destiny beta days on Xbox One and has been a part of our clan ever since. Even when Destiny lost its light we still journeyed as a group of friends across many other awesome worlds until Destiny brought it back.
Deriss you were our clan’s pragmatic leader and resident smart guy but we enjoyed every moment of your life you were willing to share with your brothers. Deriss took his life after facing many battles both inward and outward. If you see a loved one struggling don’t let them fight the darkness alone because we don’t leave fireteam members behind.
Deriss.....Josh, although Destiny brought us together you’re presence and joy helped make us a family. We love you brother. Eyes up, Guardian.

If only Destiny could lose Bungie...

Hell be gambling with Cayde now. Rest in Piece bud

First time I’ve ever posted on something. But this spoke to me. Navy Vet myself. I happen to know of a handful of other destiny players I game with who are vets. We are always hurt to see one of our own struggle. My condolences. I pray for his family and seriously, it doesn’t take much to reach out and just be there for someone. I’ll never forget the day one text saved my life. That’s all it takes sometimes.
-
That is so sad. I'm sorry to hear this happened. My prayers go out to the family an friends.
-
Condolences for your lost, bud, but this isn't the place. Understood he played, but you had to know how toxic the responses would be. Forums are littered with desensitized children with no respect who spend their time trolling to sleep at night; a video game forum at that. It's the internet. What do you expect? 🤷♂️
-
My condolences, the community lost a great guardian.
-
It's a tragedy. Uncle Sam chews up our boys and doesn't care what happens to them, your friend may he be forgiven for the things he did, may the 1% who have it all and keep us all down fighting they're wars never be forgiven. Life is hard. Lots of us want to pretend we never think this way or want to end it all but that's just not the truth. So sorry for your loss. Respect the dead, judge not, there is only one judge of men. (Listen up you haters before you post a hateful reply to me, I could care less what your opinion is so save yourself the time, what happened here is a tragedy and the man had an illness needed help and didn't get it plain and simple.)

May you feast in the halls of Valhalla.

Edited by GrifterDeMier01: 10/10/2018 9:08:56 AMSeriously? 580 upvotes for a guy who killed himself? The guy is probably laughing at every single one of you in his alternate dimension where he is a god and can do anything he wants if he is even paying attention. He is probably populating an entire planet with clones of himself right now for shits and giggles, just to test out his new found powers. What a joke.

Watch your back out there. Keep fighting the good fight
-
Another hero to celebrate for the festival, Rest In Peace man.
-
That sucks, but it was his choice and it should be respected. Energy doesn't disappear.
-
Continue the Titan/Hunter argument with Cayde, guardian.
-
Oh man. I’m so sorry. Condolences to you, the clan, and his family and other friends.
-
I’m sorry for your loss, I’m sure he meant a lot to you, I’m sure he’s in a better place
-
And to think if you were good clan members you could have revived him.
-
Bungie probably assassinated him.
-
-
My condolences. You can't replace good friends or good people, but we just have to make sure we try and find these people who are struggling and change their life for the better. I've just went through this myself with a friend and it is something that's awful for everyone.
-
Deriss, may you have fair winds and following seas! Semper Fidelis!
-
My sister is struggling with depression and I hope I never have to go through something like this. Sorry for your loss.
-
Same.

Though i didn't get to meet him i'm sure that he was a good person and a great fireteam member, i know how much this game can bring people together. I'm no Veteran player seeing as how i started in Vanilla D2 but i know for a fact that destiny is a gateway for socialising and meeting new people I met my clan through destiny, i got my friends into destiny and i've met so many amazing people through destiny...i'm so very sorry to hear for your loss If you ever need anything feel free to message me on xbox live, i'll be happy to play with you...Eyes up guardian, Eyes up
