So, breakthrough. Here's my opinion. I hoped it would be the exciting mode that was kept so secret for so long because it was going to be awesome. Instead, it was kept secret because it was a bad idea that was thrown in because, hey, it's something new, right? So here are my thoughts.
1. Waste of time. Had a few rounds turn into awful slugfest over who will get the breaker. Time expires. The game goes on because it can't end with just a draw or point capture. Instead, we sit there playing scoreless Clash until finally something happens. Look, I know this whole game is a waste of time. But I enjoy it. Breakthrough is a waste of time because it doesn't know how to end when the end comes.
2. Spawn camping. You didn't get the breaker? Too bad. Here, get slaughtered as you spawn in while one person sits on the point. Again, Bungie and spawns is like mongoose and cobra. Bungie doesn't know how to manage spawns, and bad spawns can make game modes horrific.
3. It's totally uninteresting. I do not enjoy breakthrough. It's boring. It can get drawn out. It's straight up uninspired. Next time, maybe go with something tried and true like capture the flag. Been waiting for that mode for a while. Instead, I get breakthrough.
I could go on, but none of the other reasons are valid to the game mode. If you enjoy breakthrough, tell me why. I'm curious as to what people do enjoy about it. Right now, for me, it's about as dumb as rift. But at least rift tried to do something I hadn't seen before.
