Throughout the campaign we are constantly reminded of how thin the line between light and dark is; not just from the general voice over, but by the Fanatic, and Uldren as well. This entire time we’ve thought that we were the constant hero that was unconditionally protecting the last of humanity.
However, we seem to be nothing more than glorified bodyguards of the traveler seeking to do nothing but selfishly retain the power we’ve been given. Granted, there are those who are obviously antagonistic like the Hive, but for the most part it seems like other species (like the Fallen) are simply trying to either establish, or reestablish themselves with the Traveler.
Honestly, most of the events to this point are of our doing; especially with the Fallen. Kudos to Bungie’s writers for including this tid-bit of moral questioning in this expansion. It really makes you question our intentions as guardians.

Edited by Kell of Rain: 9/9/2018 5:42:31 PMEliksni are the forsaken. Left to rot by the Great Machine, fed as tithe to lifeless deathless things. They live in a universe of Light and Dark that had both forsaken them and left them scorned, but persistence is a powerful thing. Leads to innovations, revolutions, power beyond power. A shield will triumph over the sword of the same steel. Keep this in mind, Zer'na. Endurance over triumph, Dreg strength over Kell. In a universe like this, no fact is more true.

I wished they did it better tho. It was sort of in our face too much.

Another one... Dude they came into our system. Attacked our City to take the Traveler and haven’t tried to make peace with us for starting the conflict in the first place. In fact they haven only continued to plot our doom and reclaim the Traveler. They started this fight. Why exactly should we not fight back?

At this point (Besides the Barons) I feel like we’ve just been kicking the shit out of Fallen for no reason recently. Starving them, killing all their leaders, destroying their homes, and for what? Satisfaction that they won’t attack the City? If anything, we may be making them desperate enough to pull off one last attack on the City for resources.

The word 'Forsake' generally means to give up completely. The Barons left behind their Fallen traditions and culture. Uldren gave up being a part of the Awoken. Variks is no longer the Warden. But did we, as The Guardian, give up our ties to the Vanguard and the Last City? No. We sought revenge and it took us to a dark place. Yet I still feel that we did not forsake our duties as Guardians.

Fallen are the only species we should legit feel bad for. The vex are cold machines that simply exist to make sure they exist everywhere. They don't do things out of being evil or whatever. But we have the right to defend ourselves from them by attacking first. Cabal are conqurers. They don't deserve pity. And the hive are basically just corpses filled with evil.

Sometimes protecting what you ya e and surviving means getting your hands dirty. In the end it won’t be about who was right or who was wrong just who won.

I always saw it as Cayde being Forsaken by the vanguard. Think about it, Zavala stonewalled any attempts to avenge him, and though Ikora wanted to invade the reef, she eventually gave in.

<No race is inherently good or bad. The Traveler itself wants to improve life, but when it goes down, it has no restrictions from pulling people back into the fray and allowing the genocide of other species. The Deep wants to restore order to the chaos. But it's methods are a little extreme.>
