Just in case you clicked on accident, I will put everything into a spoiler (Beyond this is your fault, and sorry it’s so long): [spoiler]Welcome. So, if you have gotten the Ace of Spades or have started the mission, you’ll know what this is mainly about. You find caches to get parts to the Ace of Spades (Or looking for the one with the parts), and audio files will play, referencing the person that may have killed him and gotten his stuff. Before we move on though, can I just mention how much this mission pulled on my heartstrings? Anyway, so about half way through the mission, we open up a cache with Cayde talking about the creators of the Deep Stone Crypt. It seems that the creators didn’t want Exos going around talking about it. My theory is that the dream with killing everyone on the way to the Crypt is a deterrent to get the Exos to not talk about it. Though, that’s besides the point. The thing that interested me the most is what Cayde says about a supposed secret of the creators. I believe the secret was the Cold Quiet Whisper. Forgive me and feel free to correct me about the exact name, but this is probably the most closure we have gotten about the Crypt in years. Also a note, the fact that he even made an audio recording for them means: The creators are still alive. Or at least were, and got turned into a Guardian. Cayde clearly knew something no-one else knows about, except the creators. Allow me to present my hypothesis: This Quiet Whisper is in the Deep Stone Crypt in the dream. That is perhaps the goal of the dreamer, to reach the Quiet Whisper without knowing that’s their goal. However, I do not think that Cayde ever actually made it to the Crypt, as Ikora is his friend, and evident in one of the audio files, he knows he can’t beat her. I believe Cayde witnessed whatever this Whisper is. The only problem is, what is this Quiet Cold Whisper? It’s apparent that it’s something the creators wanted to hide. I believe it is linked to the creation of the Exos, and the name itself. Exos, as you all know, are war machines, containing a human brain that must be reset every once in a while to keep the Exo alive/sane. Now, what is this Whisper (Not the gun)? I believe that it was an experiment, a gentle, possibly artificial whisper that would talk to the Exo, preventing the rejection of the body. Remember, rebooting an Exo was not a solution for a while, so it’s entirely probable that this was the solution they came to. Perhaps that a line of Exos with this Whisper built in, were perfectly fine for a while, like any good incident. Then, the Whisper either malfunctioned, or was remotely changed to drive the Exos crazy. Not crazy in the sense of a need to reboot, but civilian-killing crazy. Cayde either witnessed this, hears it from his senior Andal, or was able to resist the Whisper himself (though I don’t think he would’ve been created then). Or he was still human, and he saw some of this happen. There you go. Even with Cayde’s death, he completely forgot that he’s dead. Such a sad-sounding life.[/spoiler]
