Odd, yet surprising detail about the Rider Baron (no spoilers)
I am not completely sure but I believe that I heard Yaviks (aka the Rider) speking [b]russian[/b] during her boss-fight. She tends to shout a few lines when being attacked or boosting her pike, which sound extremely similiar to russian words for "[i]onwards![/i]", "[i]faster![/i]" and "[i]yes![/i]".
This makes pretty much no sense I think, unless Rider is somehow related to Rasputin maybe? I doubt that. Though it was funny noticing anyway!

5 RepliesDon't forget that ALL the original Fallen houses fell and reunited under the Kings banner (which was taken over by Uldren). So the rider could've been a Devil or something and picked up the language over time. Not that unusual really.

It could be that she is actually speaking some russian. The Spider speaks some French, because he is a collector of various artifacts of humanity. Hell, he even has the Starry Night. The Fallen are scavengers. It's not impossible that Yaviks could have also been a collector to some degree before becoming Scorn

2 RepliesBungie has always constructed their alien languages this way. Words in various Earth languages distorted, slowed down or backwards. And then there's Grunts, who scream in perfect English, "This one's for your Mama!"

A few words of Russian wouldn't be surprising, but the Fallen do have their own language.

Russia has played a role in the whole game, though. The Earth locations of D1 are in Russia, which means signage and leftover culture around us on Earth are Russian themed. Rasputin is Russian. Why would it be weird for some characters to know Russian?

Doubt it, though she may have learned a couple of words from wherever she came from, most likely Earth.
